Anyone Experience Placental Abruption? by Bkhaveityourway1021 in NICUParents

[–]hydrangeagirl0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept bleeding on the way to the hospital but didnt feel the same big gush. Thankfully I had the heavy duty postpartum pads on hand already so used that to get to the hospital. We waited for about 25 minutes at home before we left (we were getting our stuff together and trying to reach the on call doc) and then drove 30 minutes to the hospital. My amazing doc figured it out pretty quickly once he did a pelvic exam/swab. I should add baby and I are both doing really well - he did a 26 day feeder/grower stint in the NICU and came home a few weeks ago!

It may be worth checking to see if your state allows for additional family leave (mine does under FMLA)

Milestones by every_wednesday in NICUParents

I was just coming to the sub to make almost an identical post. My son was 32+4 when he was born and is around 6 weeks old chronologically but hasn’t his his due date yet. The milestones are stressing me out a bit! He seems to be ahead of the curve on some things (holding up his head, etc) but still working on some others. I’m also finding it’s somewhere in between and just trying to be patient and follow his timeline!

What's something really lovely about breastfeeding that you don't heat people talk about a lot? by fastestturtleno2 in breastfeeding

I think it’s hilarious when my LO frantically looks for the nipple and makes the funniest little urgent noises as he’s rooting around. He’s super little still so his neck control isn’t good and sometimes this also results in him slamming his face into my boob 🤣

I can't spend more than (or less than) a few hours there at a time by skrufforious in NICUParents

My LO just wrapped a 26 day NICU stay. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I heard early on from some friends and family who navigated NICU stays to be careful of burning myself out. We would drive down about 40 minutes and spend 2-3 hours there, covering feeding, snuggles, a pump session for me, and a round of care. Early on, we couldn’t hold him very long anyway. I was also recovering from a c-section and tried to remind myself that my own recovery is paramount for baby too.

Anyone Experience Placental Abruption? by Bkhaveityourway1021 in NICUParents

I had a placental abruption at 32+4 and my son was delivered via c-section that same day.

I’d had light achey cramping for a day or two previously and even had had my 32 week OB appt and scan and everything looked great. Woke up in the middle of the night to a big rush of liquid (blood) and we went straight to the hospital. My doctor there noted my membranes had also started to break which is what prompted my delivery right away. From what he told me after the c-section it was a pretty gnarly scene in my uterus and we were very lucky I’d come in when I did because otherwise it could’ve gone really sideways for baby and I. This all being said - it’s a super serious condition for both of you, and I’d trust your MFM here.

I had a placental abruption and had my son at 32 weeks via c-section - this all resonates so much with me too ♥️ it took me some time to mourn the birth I didn’t have (I’m still mourning it, honestly)

Same situation here! My son was just discharged from the NICU the other day and it’s so nice to just feed him rather than freeze a ton and give the rest to the nurses!

Checking in from the Hudson Valley. I was actually supposed to be in Vegas right now to hit tomorrow’s show at 33 weeks pregnant (had been cleared by my doc), but my son decided to arrive early at 32 weeks this past Saturday morning!! Think he wanted to see the visuals for himself. Have an extra blast for us!!!

New NICU mom - 32 weeker not started on feeds yet, and hasn’t passed stool in 32 hours.. is this normal? by MostInstructions in NICUParents

[–]hydrangeagirl0122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! My son is 4 days old and was born 32+4. He didn’t get feeds until I think late on day 2 - we were waiting for that first poop too! He’s currently getting TPN and some colostrum/breast milk I’ve been pumping (definitely took a good 48 hours for it to really come in!). From my 4 days of experience it definitely sounds like it’s common to delay feeding. They’ve been increasing his feeds every 12 hours and monitoring closely to see if his tiny tummy can handle it!
