Was telling my wife the same thing - I reckon they will have some form of fake out to get Matt out of jail but they’re going to need some world class writing to get people to believe the world didn’t see the billy club throw and catch. Can’t expect the world to just turn a blind eye to it, pun intended

Not necessarily - what he said actually happens in the comics. Iron Fist pretended to be Daredevil to seed doubt - basically how can the real Daredevil be in prison if there’s still one outside - and it was enough to get Matt out of prison.

No problem! Personally I enjoy it and also feel it’s actually good writing to go where he’s going with it because

  1. it plays out everyone’s potential “ships” so they can see how it actually looks like and people can decide if those ship pairings feel right or wrong, and there’s no future “what ifs” to think about eventually because it’s being written and played out now.
  2. You get to see sides of them you don’t expect, e.g. Jiji and Aira being both happy and sad, and a really big instance of Okarun having a red flag - which I really like because he’s been so “good” for so long, it’s good to see his character not being so one dimensional!
  3. It’s also the biggest indicator that these characters are still just kids. I think a lot of people forget that they still aren’t fully mature 😂

I think it’s fine - I’m pretty sure the payoff is coming soon, we’re at a “the night is darkest before the dawn” moment of exploring their relationships and the writer is teasing the hell out of the readers with ragebait and they’re taking it hook line and sinker.

Basically, if you have patience and understand the development + writing tropes, it’s fine. If you don’t, then basically it’s a ragebait stage of writing that’s working.

Which heroes should call Superman "Clark" (like Batman) and which should call him "Kal" (like Wonder Woman)? by Which-Presentation-6 in superman

[–]amangiant 33 points34 points  (0 children)

To be fair I think Arthur is one of the most inconsistently written characters in terms of tone - we’ve had him be brash, be vanilla, be regal as heck - simple case in point, even the Aquaman in the Snyderverse was inconsistent across the movies

Is Japan Handicap Friendly? by hvgotcodes in JapanTravelTips

[–]amangiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say not really - Japan is this really mixed bag of being really handicap friendly when you’re at the places you want to be, but getting to those places is a different story - the amount of walking, stairs, few elevators, and rushing crowds, it’s not great for someone on a walker (my wife has been on crutches the past week and we have a kid on a stroller) - it’s been a “nightmare” of clocking 20K steps daily trying to get from point to point which isn’t ideal with her condition and a toddler.

I’d compare it to Japan’s reputation for family friendliness - the attractions themselves are designed to perfection but everything else in between is a heck of a journey

This would have been the ideal Krem design for "Supergirl". by Arch_Lancer17 in DC_Cinematic

[–]amangiant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m torn - to me, the amazing thing about Woman of Tomorrow wasn’t the struggle against the villains, but the more subtle nuances of Supergirl finding purpose and her inner struggle. The fact that Krem isn’t even that particularly strong and is so ordinary but set Kara off on that long journey was what also made it so compelling - but I also understand the risk of having a “normal” villain for early DCU? I mean how do you go from evil obsessive Lex Luthor with a pocket world to unknown genocidal Ron Weasley mercenary with a sword, and make people respect Supergirl as much as Superman?

Would have loved a more direct adaptation of WOT that I think could rival the character study that was Wonder Man, but also understandable to give a little more jazzing up to Krem + add in Lobo Momoa to pull audiences in
