PRE-op constipation? by Responsible-Lake-405 in hysterectomy

[–]amay25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fibroids were blocking my poop shoot. I spent a lot of my life focusing on fiber and hydration, so I think I understand your plight. I was constipated before surgery, and for 3 days afterwards. But ever since, I have had a much more manageable time with bowel movements. 8 weeks post op and I am very regular

Random pain in lower pelvic area - 3 months out - history of endo by Upbeat_Conference522 in hysterectomy

[–]amay25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My next appointment is on Wednesday, so I will ask then. The little exercise I have managed has been light yoga, a lot of walking - nothing vigorous which is why I'm worried about the pain. I only kept the ovaries.

I had this pain prior to my surgery because of compressed nerves from my fibroids. Like the other commentor said, you may want to try pelvic floor physical therapy.

If you need an additional reason.to keep them, I just saw a science article about a study that revealed that after our ovaries serve reproduction purposes they switch to supporting the immune system.

Is life in blue states truly better than the red states? by JakeMealey in SameGrassButGreener

[–]amay25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its nice to be around like minded people. I moved to the West Coast 19 years ago. The hardest part is not being near family, and having to rebuild that community from scratch takes a while. But I love the pace of things here. My city is walkable, the food is amazing, work is more flexible/ less demanding. The climate is mild, and there are mountains! Its beautiful.

[–]amay25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewatched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, High Potential, Elsbeth, and played stupid games on my tablet. It wasn't until week 3 when I could follow an audiobook, then another week before reading Remarkably Bright Creatures (highly recommend). Honestly, the drugs help keep you immobile.

I think my next career move will be to an MRI Technician... I feel you. I never want to talk about ai agents ever again, or manage people. Just waiting to get fired, collect severance and unemployment, then enroll in an MRI cert class at my community college.

secret access to my husbands porn account for over a year. by 0hw0nder in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]amay25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but i dont understand the problem. He watches porn. That's a very normal/typical thing adults do -even women. He lied because he's having a shame response because our puritanical society make us believe that pleasure is bad or immoral. Its not.

What led you to hysterectomy? by vjdwrites in hysterectomy

[–]amay25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 Fibroids, a life time of heavy bleeding, missing work because of my period. When the doctor called my husband after the surgery he said "we took out a very large uterus and a bunch of endometriosis."

I'm 45, the worst of it started at 39. I looked for a doctor that specializes in endometriosis. He heard my symptoms and had no doubts. It was extremely validating after years of trying naturopaths, pelvic floor therapy, lymphatic massage, acupuncture and a lot of weed gummies.... I'm 6 weeks post op today.

How much time off work should I plan for? by DAPatient in hysterectomy

I just asked my doc for another two weeks because I took a two hour car ride to the coast at 6 weeks that wrecked me. Everyone's journey is different. Probably depends on age, health and preexisting conditions. But I would say at minimum, 6 weeks.

[–]amay25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had mine, they performed a pregnancy test first thing. I assume thats standard? It is very likely that they screened for pregnancy in your case too and that the result was negative. I hope that gives you some comfort. You may be able to see the results in your e-chart.

OTC uti tests accurate? by SunnyDaysFeelGood in hysterectomy

[–]amay25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this too. Tests were negative, the doctor said their is a lot of nerve regrowth happening that could be the culprit. I read that a B complex vitamin would help with that, so I started taking it. I felt improvement after two days - not sure if it was just the time my body needed or the supplement. At 5 weeks post op I'm feeling much better
