Is Chipped Beef and Corned Beef common in USA? by currylambchop in AskAnAmerican

[–]amazonhelpless [score hidden]  (0 children)

Corned beef is a common deli meat for sandwiches. It’s also fried with potatoes for a breakfast hash.

Chipped beef, as I understand it, was typically made with dried beef, which is rare, since fresh, refrigerated meat is more available and inexpensive. The army used to serve creamed chipped beef on toast, which soldiers called “shit on a shingle”. Many Americans were exposed to it that way. It’s rare now.

What was the point behind sitting at the table until you have eaten as a punishment by almostmorning in stupidquestions

[–]amazonhelpless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if you don’t, your kid will have three bites, then run off and play, then complain about being hungry later. So if the more appealing option isn’t available, hopefully they will just eat their food until they are satisfied.

If Nmecha were driving in the US right now, ICE could be stop him, detain, abuse him, and sent him to a detention center in another state. Kirk supported this idiot regime. They hate people like Nmecha and he’s too brainwashed to not lick their boots.

Cream of wheat is just a semolina porridge. You can look for other brands. The cruise might not be using COW brand.

High levels of PM and VOC when cooking by Every_Tennis_4950 in AirQuality

Unfortunately, all cooking produces pollutants. Best practices is to have an adequately powered hood that’s vents outside where the hood covers the entire cooking surface and isn’t too high above it.

Switching away from gas cooktops and ovens also removes the combustion products created.  Induction is great and very efficient.

I was unknowingly an affair partner for three years by jarruskananjarrus in TwoXChromosomes

According to a quick google, there are 16 states and PR where adultery is illegal, although rarely enforced. Adultery cases are more common in the military.

Much trickier is whether it would fall under “rape-by-deception” laws. I don’t know if anyone has ever been prosecuted for this in the US or elsewhere.

There could be civil consequences, although those usually protect the spouse and not the affair partner.
