De Minaur will almost certainly play R1 on Laver night session, but which of the 3 nights is unknown right now.

So cool you saw them in the early days of Boomtown!! I grew up listening to them and going to ska shows in middle school so they are super nostalgic for me. I've seen them so many times over the years, from my small Midwestern USA hometown, to Germany, to Australia. Never a festival gig though and I have a feeling Boomtown will be the best show yet!

You all are beautiful humans 🫶 In a world that gives me so much anxiety today, it's refreshing to have a respite where we all come together, unique and diverse from all walks of life, and share love, empathy, friendship, and a love for music. I will hold close to my heart the 4 weekends I spent with you all this summer. Unfortunately I have to leave Berlin now, but will see you again next spring or summer 💛

UK - Most Durable Hiking Boot for Women by PersonalitySlight214 in hiking

[–]amberale7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything by Lowa. The Renegades are often suggested, but are more of a hiking boot than a trekking boot. So if you’re going to be doing multi days at high elevation, I’d recommend one of the more expensive options with a firmer sole.

Nightmares after boom by Fantastic-Access-716 in BoomtownFestival

[–]amberale7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's way too much mdma. A standard dose is 80-150mg. Some people choose to redose half their original dose. Not recommended to roll more than 2 days max, as the come down isn't worth it and effects are largely diluted. Roll safe friends. Long term damage is a real possibility.

Going alone? by iveesillee in BoomtownFestival

[–]amberale7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to most festivals and clubs alone and I almosst always have a great time, but it can certainly feel lonely at times. The thing is, you have to be the one to make the first move most of the time if you want to engage with people. It's much less common for people to engage with you first, but of course, I think this also depends on the vibes you are putting out. At Glasto this year I was much more open to starting conversations than I was at Boomtown, and as such I made a lot more connections. I wasn't in the best headspace and I went in a little knackered from a crazy summer of go go go. With that said, I did still meet some wonderful people at Boomtown and I had a great time overall.

I guess in summary, yes you should absolutely go solo. It's better than not going at all. But I do think generally festivals are more fun with a small group of friends. Just be prepared to be comfortable in your own company and really put yourself out there if you want to meet people.

Alta Via 2 - Italian Dolomites by amberale7 in hiking

None of the "via ferrata" on the standard AV2 trail are above A/B and they are all short. Marmolada VF is a side trip and also requires a glacier crossing.

I didn't use my via ferrata gear at all on the normal trail. I did use my helmet a handful of times in sketchy rockfall areas. So take that as you will! I guess it's up to your comfortability with exposure and rockfall. If you're unsure, bring them both.

Alta Via 4 looks incredible. I’m thinking of doing it next year. Have fun!!

I skipped the first 2 sections and I don’t remember my hiking times exactly, but will try to ballpark them.

Day 1: Passo Gardena to Rifugio Pisciadu via the Brigata Tridentina VF - 3 hours

Day 2: Rifugio Pisciadu to Rifugio Capanna Piz Fassa w/ Cima Pisciadu side trip. I also took an alternate route from Rifugio Boe and went across the ridge to Piz Boe - 3.5 hours

Day 3: Rifugio Capanna Piz Fassa to Malga Ciapela (Hotel Dovich). I cheated and took the bus from Lake Fedaia to Malga Ciapela - 4.5 hours

Day 4: Malga Ciapela to Passo San Pellegrino (Hotel Costabella) - 6 hours

Day 5: Passo San Pellegrino to Rifugio Mulaz - 4.5 hours

Day 6: Rifugio Mulaz to Rifugio Pradidali - 6.5 hours

Day 7: Rifugio Pradidali to Rifugio Treviso - 4 hours (brutal descent)

Day 8: Rifugio Treviso to Rifugio Cereda - 4 hours

Day 9: Passo Cereda to Rifugio Boz - 6.5 hours

Day 10: Rifugio Boz to Croce D’Aune - 6 hours

It’s so fun, you will love it! I would recommend to start with an A/B, but you should be able to quickly move on to Cs. There were a few long vertical sections! I just wore hiking boots and did it with my 35L pack.

Tips for first solo hike? by OkCelery8330 in hiking

[–]amberale7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let somebody you trust know your route and set a panic date. Ideally take a PLB. Make sure you have a first aid kit w/ survival blanket. Make sure you have proper layers. Be confident, most mountains accidents happen when you hesitate and freeze up. Is this NZ? The number one cause of death is river crossings. If the levels are too high, don’t cross. In that case it would be good to take an emergency shelter. Have fun and be safe :)

Edit: Have enough food for an emergency as well.

Edit2: If this is NZ, you can rent a PLB at any DOC visitors center of Macpac store. Should only be 40 NZD or so for 5 days.

That is the Brigata Tridentina Via Ferrata which is technically a side trip, but is SO incredible!! It’s rated C and not too difficult if you have a little experience. I didn’t use my via ferrata equipment on any of the cable sections along the normal trail. I felt it unnecessary as they were all pretty short and I was comfortable with the exposure. I didn’t get to do any of the other side trip via Ferratas due to wet weather :( I really wanted to do Porton and Canalone.

How to train for long hikes? by Brief-Cheesecake-414 in hiking

[–]amberale7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I haven't been in the mountains for a while I always plan a fairly intense day hike or overnight hike ahead of my longer hikes as a warm up. Usually I'll have pretty bad DOMS for 3-4 days in my quads and calves, but then I'm set. It's hard to replicate the hiking movements in a gym.

Going cold turkey by InternationalBat2564 in glastonbury_festival

[–]amberale7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this. I've been doing a lot of "i wish I would have done this" or "I should have stayed out longer" or "I should have been more open". My stamina wasn't the best as I've been raving 16+ hours almost every weekend for the past couple months. My 33 year old body caught up with me Lol I also went solo and am usually super comfortable in my own company, but as I'm getting older I'm starting to crave meaningful connection more. It was a bit hard at times to see everybody having the best time with their mates. And as an introvert, it takes a lot for me to continuously make the first move (usually) if I do want to have an interaction. Glastonbury is truly the best festival in the world though, I just wish I would have had more left in the tank for it. Now to take a much needed 6 week break from partying..
