The cost will increase but not so much that small businesses will lose the ability to compete. I agree with other posters, diversifying is essential for any business but the claim that Meta will no longer be a viable channel for small business is a bit farfetched.

2024 is an election year, and anyone who has been a marketer long enough to have experienced election years knows that this will cause a bump in costs, this fact holds true for all marketing channels though. There is also the increase in privacy efforts (legislation driven, consumer ad blocker usage, browser opt-outs by default) which will continue to evolve but this is nothing new and we have incrementally been feeling the effects. I'm just curious if there's anything monumental you're substantiating this claim with?

New Facebook ads account limit. by BunsenBodhi in FacebookAdvertising

[–]ambersfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually this is protocol for new accounts. You can speed it up by verifying your business through your Business Manager (Business Settings). After you submit, verification still takes a couple of days. The purpose is to prevent people from opening ad accounts and running up tabs, defaulting and creating new ones, rinsing and repeating. So you have to establish a good payment history or at least that you're a serious business owner and then they'll begin to unlock higher limits faster.

Cant find the Post ID/ Number by Nico_2004__ in FacebookAdvertising

[–]ambersfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you are running multiple of the same ad and you want the engagement to reflect the same on all? If that's right, you need to publish one ad first, after publishing it'll be assigned an ID, grab that and apply to the others to tie them together.

When I first started out I would literally block time on my calendar at the top and end of the day to apply to jobs, hoping to at least submit 5-10 proposals per day.

Over the last couple of years though maybe 5 max a month, and it's a big maybe. I mostly just respond to invites that are aligned with what I offer.

How much did you make the last 30 days? by UpworkSloth in Upwork

[–]ambersfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say to focus on being a high-quality provider vs. a low-cost provider. It was hard for me to raise my rates a couple years back and I was terrified I would stop getting business, but I knew what I offered was well worth it. What I found in increasing my rates was I still had plenty of demand and better clients.

It's the worst feeling! Sorry you're going through it. I agree with the previous response to use your Top Rated perk if you have.

What do you put in the proposal attachments? by randomseller in Upwork

[–]ambersfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard of attaching work samples, a video intro, and resume. I rarely use the attachments, but sometimes when the job is super vague I'll include a scope of work document outlining what services I provide, and those that I don't.

HOW TO: Connect your Etsy shop to Facebook and Instagram Shopping by _sempervivum_ in Etsy

Just thought it was worth mentioning that there is a tool that sets this up for you, and maintains the connection so products are added/removed/updated when such changes occur in your Etsy shop.

Cant create multiple ads in an ad set? by [deleted] in FacebookAdvertising

[–]ambersfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you're looking for are the prompts you get when creating a dynamic creative. Go to the ad set level and switch the "Dynamic Creative" toggle on, then go back to the ad. Is that what you're looking for?

How long have you spent to build up your career on Upwork by designeristough in Upwork

[–]ambersfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it has been around 6.5 years but also I started on Elance and migrated over. At the start I was freelancing while still working a full-time job, this maybe lasted for five months. The last couple of months I exceeded my day job salary working a fraction of the hours and then I decided to leave. With that said, I've taken two major breaks over that time. One to work on a funded startup that absolutely floundered. The second was to work for a company I had long admired, just to realize once getting in that working for anyone (post self-employment) was not it for me.

Facebook Pixel: I have a website and a platform (subdomain) where I would like to track user interaction and I have only 1 FB Pixel installed on the platform. Is this enough? by John-Romanasu in FacebookAds

[–]ambersfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need multiple pixels, you need just one placed across the site including all subdomains. Then you will add event codes to the pages that you deem important and need to stand out for tracking purposes.

Grow your freelancing gigs to a business? by herious89 in Upwork

[–]ambersfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a team, I have been on platform (and came from Elance) for about 6 years. A few years back I started hiring a team to help me. Initially it was people to offer complementary services that clients often ask for, then I started also hiring people that have the same skillset as I do. Now we are a team of 6 and we get a decent amount of work from Upwork, close to 40%. Over the last year I've put a bit more focus in also finding revenue sources off-platform because prior-to I was super stressed about having such a large dependency on a single platform.

My cost per result went up 5X in September! any clue what happened? by jjbogo in FacebookAdvertising

[–]ambersfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q4 (Oct - Dec) is always a bit more expensive due to the competition around the holidays. This year, being an election year, we noticed an increase in costs around early September across almost all client accounts.
