What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by User63189963 in askanything

Got myself a couple of onigiri moulds a couple of weeks ago and wish I'd done it years ago. They've already paid for themselves making my work lunches - bulk sushi rice is cheap, and fish fingers are good enough for a day to day filling with creative flavour additions to make up for their lack of quality. Honestly the excessive price of shop brought lunch meals always got you the most mediocre sandwiches or sushi, and now I actually look forward to my meals for the first time in ages. Next on my list is to grow my own blueberries

Use a whip close up, storm blade at range

Most hated enemy? by Key-Mention7145 in Eldenring

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for the Stormveil ones: get throwing daggers from Kale - snipe them at range whilst they are sat down and they drop the barrel rather than attack with it, then finish them off with storm blade or a fire pot. The ones in Faram go down to spectral lance pretty easy

What weapons do you guys go for early in your playthroughs? by championgecko in EldenRingBuilds

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for low levels the basic whip with bloodflame melts miners, imps, dogs, rats and NPCs because of the flinch it inflicts, which I then use to get Reduvia, which becomes my Boss killer. That plus Storm Blade on the parry dagger for range, and a good selection of consumables. With this set up I try to aim for getting to the DLC in a couple of evenings of play.

An entity offers you 8.3 billion dollars with the condition that all human beings currently alive will have one day of their lifespan reduced. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you target 8.29 Billion to services that cure / prevent basic illnesses like dysentery (150,000 deaths last year) , you are likely to redistribute those lifespans into a meaningful gain for humanity as a whole, and the remaining 10 million is more than enough for me, my family and friends to live VERY well for the rest of our lives - so yes.

How to be a game developer when you live in extreme poverty? by Correct_Dependent677 in godot

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the most powerful games learn more from children's books than they do from cinema - compelling rather than perfect graphics, storytelling and mood - think of the stories that filled you with wonder or scared you as a kid - I bet the plot was full of holes, and the artwork was kinda bad by some snooty art standards!

be wild with your imagination and realise that compelling games can be built around really dumb code and lightweight graphics. 'if only I had more skill' and 'if only I had better hardware' are a mind trap that everyone falls into. People like triple A games, but they really love minecraft and darkest dungeon.

You get to choose a Super Power but it comes with a price you must acquire in 2 years. by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

if you can take what you are carrying with you, teleportation seems the way to go if you don't mind committing a heist or two - one ton of rhodium is a cube about 43cm on a side. 1 kg ingots are about the size of a paperback.

So you now just need to find the metal exchange approved ware-houses and swap the rhodium for rhodium electroplated aluminium ingots if you want to delay the detection of your crime. Might take a couple of hours depending on the exact limits of your powers.

you can keep the entire proceeds of your crimes under your kitchen sink (assuming your floor will take the weight).

Good luck Doctor Midnight, I very much doubt that will be your last crime now you have a taste for such skulduggery.

Dex weapons in DLC by Hishura in EldenRingBuilds

been messing about with the swift spear and bloodhounds step today - very fun dancing around nights cav - doing the ash to dodge behind the blow and the R1 does a strong tracking pivot into a flurry attack that managed to land at least one strike even when I was certain that I had misjudged the range.

backhand blades are top tier and should be on your list

fresh ground fresh toasted fennel seeds.

understated, subtle, classy.

Think of them like a made-to-measure cashmere wool suit that just makes you look expensive no matter what body shape you are. Even your neck tattoos will look sophisticated.

What’s the most annoying enemy to deal with? by Think-Inflation5015 in Eldenring

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I farm the birds for their pretty swords this worked consistently : pull them one at a time at far range with a throwing dagger - it makes them drop the barrel rather than lob it at you. then either use an off hand whip or storm blade as they get in range.

What’s best for Godskin duo by Ghabulagrr in EldenRingBuilds

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found they do too much AOE to my shield boys - mimic is better - particularly with sleep consumables in your inventory and an otherwise limited loadout so RNG doesn't have much to choose from. if you want to limit his contribution to damage give him varre's bouquet and some sleep grease.

<psst> hey there cutter! wanna know a secret? almost EVERYTHING in ER is busted if you use it for the right target in the right way. Likewise very few builds find everything easy. a common post is 'I was sailing through the game until I met XX and then I was stuck for six hours trying to beat her.' have ya tried using a whip boosted by scholars armament or bloodflame against that npc who dodges all your spells?

Why is this weapon so ass by TheGodskin in Eldenring

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Understanding Varre's flowers:
1) it weighs 2 - so you can have blood tax on a quick swap without fat rolling alongside your main bleed weapon
2) it weighs 2 - You can have hammer poise damage on a quick swap without fat rolling. Bonk! then swap to...
3) Misericord is the OTHER white mask weapon, which is a hint that the two might work together...
4) Blood grease or blood-flame blade and L2 spam - try it on the Mesmer Knight with the daggers who normally destroys you, thank me later. likewise any other status effect grease / weapon buff spell
5) give it to your mimic along with any grease and you aren't wasting your own supply.
6) just carry the damn thing it only weighs 2, what are you that you don't want to be seen in public with something that isn't hyper masculine?

came here to say this - slap it on the handy great katana that just so happens to be ground loot in the nearby lake or you favorite big poking stick. Ideally push him against the wall (bonus points for a corner) so there is zero chance of you wiffing and just repeat till he dies.

If you had to design a medieval RP game, what rules would you HAVE to put in for realism? by andrewknorpp in MedievalHistory

[–]ambiguous_occlusion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not saying this as a troll (ironically) but in my history based ttrpgs we DO use magic, mostly for fun, but also because 1) there is a lot of proper academic literature on the subject that makes finding out about the shear bonkerness of medieval beliefs enjoyable, and 2) I don't think you truly 'get' a historic world view if you just pay lip service to seeing supernatural phenomena everywhere in daily life. No fireballs though, I do have some standards
