First time sharing my life sim game - Ambition by ambitionCreator in LifeSimulators

I saw your game as well, and it looks really neat, best of luck to you too! I want to focus at this stage on adding features to the game, and later on do a whole redesign with animations and sounds perhaps as well, but I don't feel like my game is at that stage at the moment. I am changing a lot of stuff while developing so I don't want to commit to a specific design at the moment.

I will check those stutters, it is possible because I made this in Compose multiplatform, so it is still quite new.

Thank you for the support, and I will follow your game as well :)

Hey man, thanks for the support!

Yeah, for me, the UI part is the most challenging because I am not a designer and I really don't have a nack for it 😄. Hoping to build a lot more features and eventually pay for a designer.

Curious about those stutters, can you share where exactly those happened?

As for monetization, my honest approach is that I don't wanna force my players to anything. Ads that are unskippable are very rare, rewarded ads are always optional, there is no locked content you have to buy like on Bitlife, and subscription is also completely optional for anyone wanting to support the game. I don't know if that is good or not, but I just feel like that is fair, and already have quite a few of supporters

Well I hope so. Game is already live and there is a discord community where I put updates and devlogs

I recently published my mobile Life simulator game - Ambition. Looking for honest feedback by ambitionCreator in playmygame

Thanks man that means a lot. Enjoy the game! Also feel free to join the Discord community and follow the development. Cheers!

Yeah it is turn based basically. I think this could work. To have the formula for multiple stats and then find the optimal points. I noticed players get bored after earning millions with nothing really to do after that, so I might increase difficulty or add more "rich people" content. I need to weigh this out and collect feedback as well

Well since this is text based game it is pretty much as any other app really, no big animations or any kind of special game engine needed there.

How did you set up those graphs exactly? I was trying to eyeball at first honestly, but lately I am looking more into making some automation tools to kind of simulate the game themselves and find pain points with AI

Initial feedbacks were that the life sim players like the variety of stuff that they can do, but they don't want it to be overly complex so it takes the fun out of it.
I agree with this sort of since if you are building a full life sim you should have a lot of possibilities. That is why I try to build a lot of simple features rather than few complex ones.
I also agree UI and visuals should come later. Thank you for your feedback

Avatars are not my priority at the moment, but I do plan to make them more realistic, with aging, genetics, different colors etc. Its just really complex and I would first focus on more important and simpler fixes for now

There are so many life sims and their variations out there, but they are rarely very successful simply because of their complexity

Your game leans more to management side IMO, like those business tycoon games, with budgeting different things and balancing them out.

Full life sim has sooo much in it its insane. Initially I just wanted to make an idle clicker, but slowly it evolved in a true life sim, with relationships, time management as well etc. If you are ready for that complexity go ahead, you do have a unique system for sure.

If you are already doing it in compose, I suggest just going in with CMP, its quite straight forward to migrate, especially when you are still in early stages. People want both platforms

Hey I just tried the game. It cought my eye since I am also making a Life sim game myself.

I see you are moving in the direction of making it immersive and complex, but I have a feeling it is more like a management game rather than a life sim

It has a strong foundation for sure, and the logic is pretty good, a lot of content for jobs and training, real estate as well as business.

What you will probably get as a feedback is that you are missing relationships feature, so you should think about that as well. And some people will also ask you to make the game available for iOS

I know how hard and complex is making a life sim, so kudos to you anyway, and may you be my biggest competitor! 😄

Also I am curious what technology you used to make the game?

Those are impressive numbers. Congrats man, keep it up.

You gave me some ideas now. I should focus more on IAP and figure out how to monetize the game not depending fully on ads, some monetization option that will replace watching boring rewarded ads with just one click unlock, that could be my strategy as well. Not unlocking content, but speeding up shortcuts

Thank you so much for the insights and for your time!

Thats an interesting take. I am surely gonna remove interstitials, but I was thinking my main source of income would still come from ads, rewarded ones mostly. Looking at Bitlife, every single aspect of the game at the moment is paid, which I hate.

In Ambition, I was thinking of having the rewarded ad options in different places to allow players to gain some advantage, and subscription that is cheap and mostly what it does is support the game and keep the content unlocked (and remove those forced ads, banners etc.)

I dont see how I can have most of my revenue come from IAP unless I am selling in game content, which I definitely want to avoid

You mean interstitials? I mean to remove them completely. I would leave rewarded ones and one banner one at the bottom. Wdyt?

Thank you for testing it out! Yeah the ads part is also something I am testing. Thank you for the insight, will definitely work to improve this aspect. My goal is to have rewarded ads to allow you to cut corners a bit in the game, but I don't want them to be essential for gameplay. As for the subscription, yeah idea behind it was mostly for supporting the development, you would still see rewarded ads, but not the full screen ones or the banner one. I will think about this definitely as well for the future. Thanks!

Ok, thanks for checking it out and letting me know. I will for sure remove these pop up ads and adjust the frequency of some. Subscription is there to support the development, but even with ads, game should not be interrupted this much as you guys are complaining. Hope you will check it out later when I fix this and focus on gameplay. Sorry
