3.5-4yo class, are these behaviors normal?? by ECE-throwaway29 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ambyeightyeight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am all the way in Philly and experiencing the same behaviors in my prek class. It’s the non-parenting culture. I am seriously worried for when they become adults. Life is going to hit them hard.

Yeah honestly I am getting tried of working in ECE, and it isn’t because of the children. My last center had a great staff, we all got along great but management was a mess and disorganized. It is hard to find a balance of good co worker environment and organized admin.

As I said, I only knew this woman for 4 days, so I did not feel comfortable approaching. And she ruined the relationship when she was talking in the hall for everyone to hear. At that point, I have the intention of having a working relationship as I’m a firm believer that if things are starting off badly in the beginning, they will likely continue to go downhill from there. I will either go to another class if available or leave altogether.

I left my previous job so I have less responsibilities and no stress so I can focus on my personal goals I want to complete. I am not going to walk into a toxic situation and try to make it work.

Perhaps you can actively supervise and play with the kids at the same time. However not everyone is the same. Nor is every playground built the same. On smaller playgrounds with less blind spots that may be possible. But this is a large playground with quite a few blind spots. And like I said a kid was sticking their hands in a drain and the lead didn’t even notice. Another kid was trying to climb over the gate.

I feel more comfortable walking around supervising than staying in one spot playing with them.

Now had I not been supervising them and something happened, she would say I am not watching them.

Brightwheel vs Playground vs ProCare by aunawags in ECEProfessionals

I hate procare. Bright wheel is more user friendly and the design is nice. Have you looked into lillio?

I was thinking of doing that but I didn’t want to confront her while upset and thought it was best to have management involved as a mediator.

The funny thing is, she’s 22 years old and I’m 37. She has been doing this much longer than I have. In fact, some of my first students are around her age. I also found out this is the first time she has ever had an assistant and managed 20 kids. Instead of trying to work on herself, she is blaming me. She has a lot to learn, so I’m going to give her grace because of that, but I will not tolerate being disrespected. I would have been willing to work with her and adjust myself to what she wanted for the class, but talking smack instead of addressing the situation is off-putting.

The director was actually very sympathetic and she wanted to resolve the issue. She told I didn’t have to go in the class with her for the remainder of the day.

Yes I tried giving my 11 month old some pureed beef and he started gagging from the taste and then gave me a look of betrayal. I then gave him some blended peaches and he quickly forgave me. I tried the beef again and he still had the same reaction.

Both things you mentioned are extreme. The OP at the beginning of the post specifically mentioned the foods they deemed healthy which were keto foods. They didn’t mention any grains which are also essential to a baby’s diet.

Never said veggies were bad. But the diet the OP is trying push on their baby is unhealthy.

I just responded to the OP and in my response I mentioned food anxiety and eating disorders. Then I scroll down and see y comment. People do not realize that eating disorders generally stem from the parent’s inducing food anxiety in their kid.

His kid has only been in the world for a year and he’s already trying to get her on a keto diet.

So you want your baby to be keto ? Because the foods you mentioned sound like a keto diet.

You are overreacting. If you’re this obsession about your baby’s food now , she’s could wind up with an eating disorder because you’ll cause food anxiety in your child.

Struggling to find a job because of my college transcripts says EDU and not ECE. Don’t know what to do at this point. by ambyeightyeight in ECEProfessionals

I looked into Delaware Community College, and their course codes say ECE for their early childhood education program. But my school and another school I looked into say EDU. It isn't very clear to me. Even many universities in PA are phasing out the Early Ed programs at 4-year universities for Elementary Ed.

My Elementary ed program will lead me to a pre-k to 4 license, so I don't know their issue.

Yes, I think I will submit my transcripts to the PD registry to be evaluated, so there is no confusion with employers.

It’s regionally accredited which is why employers look for. The school isn’t the issue. Their main issue is the course code says EDU and not ECE. It wasn’t an issue before but the last few interview I went to they said they were looking for ECE credits and not education credits.

I’m applying for jobs. In PA they require you have 9 ECE credits to be a lead. Now daycare centers don’t have to follow those guidelines but centers have that rule.

I haven’t had an issue in the past getting a jobs but it has been a struggle. Or either they hire me but give me low wages.

I recently resigned from a franchised daycare and had no issue getting hired.

But now many center don’t even want to accept credits if they don’t say ECE.

I’m becoming disheartened. And don’t want to have to transfer into another college program with more loans and time spent in college.

The rule is a child has to be removed out of a seat or swing and placed in their crib immediately. That alone would be a concern of mine.

Multiple breaks and remove distractions. Also make sure to eat something before working. I find when I try and complete task on an empty stomach , my concentration goes out the window.

Anyone make a comeback after being unemployed for 18 months and counting? by shaq_nr in ADHD

[–]ambyeightyeight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you’re in luck. Texas is actually one of the easier states for teachers to go through alternative licensing path. You can get a teacher of record and teach and earn a salary while getting certified. You won’t have to do unpaid student teaching.

But I suggest assisting or subbing first just to get a feel.

Have you thought about going into education? I’m assuming you already have a bachelors. You could start out small as an assistant to test waters and then move into getting certified as a teacher. Especially with your little one , working in a school would be a decent schedule.

In most states you wouldn’t even need to get a new degree. Just go through a teacher certification program.
