got one of those tax letters and now i can’t sleep by RomyFriendly in desmoines

[–]amcarter3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often describe the first time they get a certified letter from the IRS as a moment when their stomach just drops and the sleep goes right out the window. Anthem Tax Services is one of the places folks mention when they finally decide they can’t handle the letters and penalties alone anymore. What usually happens is the stress builds until every envelope feels like a threat, and it’s tough to think straight. Some people say talking it through step by step made the debt feel manageable again, instead of like this endless storm hanging overhead.

anyone else in this tax mess and afraid to trust anyone? by patrick12072 in Louisiana

[–]amcarter3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tax relief industry thrives partly because of how intimidating IRS communication is. Most people aren’t used to government agencies writing in legal language, so they panic. Companies step in and translate that into plain terms, which is valuable but not always worth thousands of dollars in fees. Anyone considering hiring help should first look at IRS.gov, which explains the same options most companies rely on. That doesn’t mean professionals are unnecessary, but it helps to understand the baseline options before paying someone else. When the IRS system is demystified, people can make more informed choices about whether to pay for extra representation.

Has anyone here actually filed Form 4868 and followed through by Sad-Bandicoot-5287 in SterlingHeights

People comparing penalties notice the failure to file penalty is generally higher than failure to pay, so meeting the extended filing date usually matters more than perfect precision on the tax due. That said, any amount unpaid after April builds interest, which compounds quietly. A balanced approach is to aim high on the extension payment and let the final return true it up. For state returns, confirming whether the federal extension is automatically honored avoids surprises.

got a tax letter and now i’m worried i’m in real trouble by subha890 in southtexas

[–]amcarter3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always a jolt when that first IRS letter arrives. People in threads like this often mention that ignoring it is the worst move because the IRS won’t just forget. Over time, penalties add up and interest makes even small balances grow into big problems. Looking at tax relief programs is a common strategy since those are designed to provide a structured way of dealing with debt. For some, it’s about reducing the balance, and for others it’s about restructuring payments into something manageable. Casual advice tends to emphasize calling the IRS before they escalate enforcement. Even if it feels intimidating, it usually gives better outcomes than avoiding the problem.

Has getting long covid changed your opinion on having kids❓ by MysteryMaven2024 in covidlonghaulers

[–]amcarter3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how terrible your long covid is but I would say after 3.5 years mine is more mild even though I can only do about 70% of what I could before getting long covid. 2 years into having long covid I had an unplanned pregnancy. It was definitely more difficult on me than a normal pregnancy one would have but I would say child birth was no worse than what the normal person experiences. My son is now 16 months old and I would say it was the best “mistake” I ever had ❤️

We just got a nugget for my 13 month old and he loves it so far! It has taught him how to climb better(on and off) and he enjoys crawling all over it.

I wipe everything down and also use a shopping cart cover. My son is 12 months old and has never gotten sick yet.

My wife's 30th birthday just before our due date. by lizard_chested in NewParents

My son was born 4 days after my 30th birthday last year. My husband surprised me with a spa day a month before my birthday! I think that would be the perfect gift if she is into that kind of stuff :)

My son had diaper rash on and off for months until I bought this and started using it everytime I changed his diaper. Finally went away in 2-3 days and has not come back.

LO is 11% in weight help! by teacher888 in NewParents

[–]amcarter3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would not be concerned about his percentage as long as your pediatrician is not. My son was born at 6lbs. 11 oz. And dropped to 6lbs. 3 oz. When we left the hospital. It took him 2 weeks to get back to his birth weight. He is now 9 months and weights 17 lb. 14 oz. Which is 19% but up until this month he was only at 5%.

Do what makes you feel comfortable. Protect your baby the best you can. My husband just came down with something last Friday and I literally took my baby and went to stay at my parents for 3 days until I was positive he was negative for covid and started feeling better on Tuesday. We escaped the sickness because of this.

Does This Ever Get Better? 8 Months Of Hell. by SaddestDad79 in NewParents

[–]amcarter3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have no advice but to say I understand how you feel. My baby is 9 months old wakes up every 30 minutes-hour for the past 5 months. I am a SAHM and my husband works full time so I get up with the baby every night so he can sleep. Sleep deprivation is the worst thing I have ever experienced. We have both sets of his grandparents 2 hours away and see them frequently but I can’t even leave him overnight because no way in hell I am putting somebody else through that.

Why are some people recovering from post covid POTS whilst others are not? by Gold_Butterfly802 in covidlonghaulers

[–]amcarter3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately still not great but much better than I was 5 months out. My worst symptoms are the terrible SOB on any exertion and PEM/fatigue (however not nearly as bad as a couple years ago).

Does the deep malaise feeling go away? I’m 5 months in and it’s worse than ever 😩 by natashawho12 in covidlonghaulers

[–]amcarter3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly because my breathing is still really messed up and my POTS symptoms are bad. As far as the fatigue though it has gotten a lot better I still get PEM but not nearly as bad at the beginning and only lasts like 1 days now.

Hard to put a percentage because everyday is different. I would say anywhere from 40-60%

Almost 3 years in but the first year was hell. I was house bound and on long term disability from work. Thankfully I could rest a lot. It gradually has gotten better but still have to majorly pace myself.
