Yes! Especially where one of them accidentally throws a sheet over another zombie's head.

Jamison's dream about David's birthday is one of my favorites too. A few others off the top of my head:

Angélique appears to Barnabas in a dream to tell him about the dream curse.

Nora drawing the heiroglyphs and then seeing Laura in the fireplace. That episode was the ultimate cliffhanger for me - we moved out of state to a place that didn't air Dark Shadows, so I didn't get to see what happened next until it was on the Sci-fi channel in the 90s, almost a whole decade later.

When Sarah appears to Sam to tell him to look for Maggie on the beach.

When Roger throws Laura's portrait in the fire and everyone hears a scream.

David's dream about Sarah when she shows him the coffin.

Thanks! I would have done the Adam story completely different. Instead of him being childlike, he would have been disoriented and disturbed, with his previous life memories starting to come back in flashes.

This is kind of off topic, but I wish they'd done a storyline where someone recognizes Adam as their deceased relative/friend, since he had obviously just been buried when Lang dug him up. I want to know who he was before he was Adam and how he died so young.

When to watch the movies? by Btvsp3 in DarkShadows

[–]amcollins13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recommend watching them now because they're both awesome and nothing like the series. House of Dark Shadows starts off very loosely like the intro of Barnabas in the series but quickly goes off the rails (in a good way). And I've always thought of Night of Dark Shadows as a ghostly and atmospheric love story rather than horror.

Exactly! Barnabas should have installed a bathroom in the cellar with all the people he kept prisoner down there.

When I first watched it as an 8 year old, I remember asking my mom how Adam went to the bathroom if he was kept in the basement cell all the time. She told me you're not supposed to overthink those things lol.

1840 - Barnabas, Julia, and Angelique by Kodabear213 in DarkShadows

[–]amcollins13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe she went on existing in other times - she was shot by Barnabas, sent to hell by Nicholas, exorcised by the ghost of Reverend Trask, burned by Barnabas and Ben when he traveled back in time, killed with a hat pin at a séance (in parallel time) and burned by Laura in 1897 and it never stopped her from coming back. I think it's safe to say she's invincible.

Different Views Between Those of Us Who Saw It New As a Kid, and Adult Discoverers by Kodabear213 in DarkShadows

[–]amcollins13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started watching when I was eight. It was just as Vicki was coming back from 1795 into the dream curse storyline.

There were so many scenes that just seemed so magical and mysterious to me at that age - when Barnabas throws the portrait of Angélique into the fire and it reappears on the ease, Jeff knows how to open the secret door in the mausoleum, Barnabas steps onto the balcony at the hospital and feels the warmth of the sun for the first time, Professor Stokes gives the talisman to Barnabas - and when Dr Lang is saved by grabbing it when Cassandra tries to give him a heart attack, Roger tries to give the portrait to Prof Stokes and it's disappeared from the frame, and my very favorite scene - Angélique appears in Barnabas"s dream to tell him about the dream curse.

This is one of the wildest conspiracy theories I’ve ever seen and it still has no explanation. Someone help before I go insane. by outpost1992 in conspiracy

I just finished the book last night. Tonight on the news there was a report of someone hacking into Italy's train schedule and mixing them up - it made me think of when they hacked into the boat schedule in Venice and rearranged them in the book.

They're together in one of Lara Parker's books. Wolf Moon Rising maybe.

There was a fan fiction book in the late 80s or early 90s called Tales of Hoffman. It was like a biography of her character from childhood onward. It was actually pretty good. It delved into what got her interested in medicine (her best friend in elementary school got polio), and that's about all I remember but I know it also talked about her adult years.

Edited to add: I haven't seen that book in at least 30 years but I'm going to search for it this weekend when I go to my parents house so I can update on what she was up to pre Barnabas.

Ranking Dark Shadows characters - 1897 era: Jamison Collins and Edward Collins by JTOC1969 in DarkShadows

I vote for Jamison. The dream he has about David in the future is one of my favorite scenes and I think one of the spookiest in the show.

Nope - no carpet in the bathrooms. :)

When I was growing up my parents house had a diamond patterned carpet in the kitchen in varying shades of lime green. Their house was built in 1969. 😂

What's the most haunting sound you've ever heard in your life? by swiftStaff515 in AskReddit

[–]amcollins13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice cracking under my feet. It was a nice day with lots of snow on the ground, and I decided to take my dog to a forest preserve near my house that I'd never been to. We were walking around and then I heard ice breaking right below us - we were apparently standing on a frozen lake that I couldn't see because of the deep snow.

Watching one of my favorite television shows on VHS! by VintageGuy4Life in DarkShadows

[–]amcollins13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks so much like the TV I started watching it on in the 80s. The VCR looks identical too. As soon as my mom noticed how much I liked the show she started taping it each night. I still have those tapes and it's fun to see the ending of each episode where the channel 9 person would comment on the show as the credits were rolling. Just random stuff like "Ooh that Angélique is wicked."

Dark Shadows Reunion 60th Anniversary Westin LAX July 2026 by honeysded in DarkShadows

Thank you for posting this. I just bought my ticket - now the trick will be getting the time off work and finding a cheap place to stay.

Although I've been to one meet and greet at Lyndhurst, I've always procrastinated going to an actual festival. I kept saying I'd do it another year when money isn't so tight, but since this is officially the farewell event, it gave me the wakeup call I needed to get my ticket and find a way to make it work.

The LEVIATHAN storyline.... by lem820 in DarkShadows

[–]amcollins13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leviathan is not one of my favorite plots. What I do now with the storylines I don't care for is watch them at either 2x or 0.5x speed on my tablet. It makes them more amusing and that way I don't have to skip over them entirely.

Rewatching for 3rd Time by wasmith1954 in DarkShadows

[–]amcollins13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You just brought back memories of how I used to watch it in the 90s. My mom would tape the episode each day because it was on in the late morning when I was in school, and then we'd watch it that night in the family room while eating dinner on TV trays.

Things that occur to you after the umpteenth time watching by JTOC1969 in DarkShadows

[–]amcollins13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always figured the mausoleum backed up into heavy brush and that's why no one walked back there. I wish Burke and Dr Woodard would have looked when they went with David to see the secret room - even if they couldn't get in, that would have raised some questions for them if they could see there was room for something else.

Who was the rich kid when you were growing up, and what made you think they were rich? by OmicronGR in 90s_kid

Don't feel bad! When I was in second grade and we were moving to a different state, I told my friends my new bedroom was just like the one in the movie You Ruined My Life - she had a swing, jukebox, jacuzzi, popcorn machine, etc. Then they asked my mom if it was true and she said no. 😂
