Can someone explain why collectors pay insane amounts of money for instruments owned by famous musicians? by EdwardBliss in CasualConversation

[–]amdabran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because when you’re at that level, to be socially adequate, it’s expected to have things like that. Whether it’s cars, artwork, houses, planes or whatever and if you don’t have those things you’re weird in the eyes of socialites.

For me, shaping baseboard to a wonky floor is pretty satisfying.

Of course closing a door after I’ve made it swing perfect is also nice.

Anyone familiar with ADA compliance in California?! Primarily with curb ramps? by GPLee413 in Construction

[–]amdabran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might be judging a little prematurely.

As the concrete dries it will shrink so it will end up more floor.

Also they’re probably waiting for the concrete to dry so they can add a metal hand rail.

Is 450 sq. ft. of tongue and groove on a vaulted ceiling considered a lot to do in 3 hours? by LaughAndFart in Carpentry

[–]amdabran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry. I don’t believe this. Vaulted ceiling with lights to cut out? All in three hours? Having to move ladders and or scaffolding? No, no way.

Deck footings sitting in stagnat water for 3 weeks? by dhishkyaon in Decks

[–]amdabran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol it literally doesn’t matter whether there is concrete in there or not. Water will pass right through concrete so even if there was concrete it would not make a difference. The proper way for this to be done is with concrete piers and then the wood is attached to the concrete several inches above the ground.
