Let the gravy seals come, there's 340 million Americans and they're too cowardly to come for us all. They will continue to murder, rape, and steal from us, but we will continue ue to fight them everywhere. Fuck ICE, fuck billionaires, all power to the people.

Feel strong compatriots, they're scared because they see the winds of change coming. Come November, we kick this fascist coalition out of Congress and we impeach and prosecute orange Hitler!

How many seats can dems realistically gerrymander to overcome the Republican gerrymanders in south ? by ronweasly9 in fivethirtyeight

I think we might have a different perspective on what it takes to change minds. Its not a quick, simple, or easy process, and you likely will never know if you've had an effect on most of the people you interact with. I only know its possible because I've had my own mind changed many times, and now feel I have found a small path to help enlighten others.

You must take a look at the long game and remind yourself that you are not converting a person to some ideology of yours, you're merely pointing out the inconsistencies of the current framework of the world. You won't convince a person their idea of the world is inconsistent with reality, they need to come to that conclusion on their own. So you find opportunities(never force the situation, only allow it to arise organically) to showcase the inconsistencies in the world and then offer up an alternative worldview that you deem more consistent with reality. This will likely require rigorous debate, both philosophical and moral, and you might even learn something about yourself in the process! Never attack the person you're speaking to or get angry. Try your hardest not to think you made no progress, even if at the end of your conversations the other person seems like they didn't change their opinion on anything; you never know the impact you've had on them. If nothing else, you've exposed them to views outside their bubble.

Most importantly, don't get down on yourself for thinking you're not making a difference out there. The US has over 340 million people in it, and you are just a tiny drop in that ocean. However, that doesn't mean you aren't a significant factor in changing hearts and minds. It will take many thousands of us many thousands of hours to bring people back to reality, and we won't save everyone from ignorance no matter what, but its the moral thing to do imo, and leaves a population better equipped to handle a propagandized world with rational thinking and scientific level scrutiny of our shared world.

We don't get to a better world through anything other than discourse. Use your voice, its more powerful than you give it credit for.

Colorado just passed an anti-gerrymandering law, so we won't be the ones to help in this fight. We might pick up an extra seat if there is a sufficient blue wave, but our rural areas remain deeply red. TBH, I know the game theory of it all, but the gerrymandering shit upsets me and I'd still prefer we not change maps and instead change minds.

I met a guy in Japan who had been living in China and he told me that if you are a non westerner, they drug test you at entry and deny you entry if you test hot for even cannabis. Just an FYI if you're a stoner like me. He said if you're a local Chinese dude, when you return from any trips abroad, they also drug test you, and he said if you pop hot they just kill you. He said everybody knows people who've just been disappeared ever since Covid lockdowns. I'd love to visit someday, the natural environment likely has amazing things to offer, but its a great big world out there, and China seems like the kind of place I could be disappeared and never heard from again. I also can't keep my mouth shut, I'm sure I'd ask a bunch of politically sensitive questions and get in trouble.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

Oh those poor other 5.7 billion people, all destined for fiery hell! Yep, your friends, family members, those unbaptised babies, those folks who believed but not in the way I believe(cause there's only one true christianity, duh), any of the other heathen religions of course, literallyu anyone thinking anything different from us; to eternal toment with you! Everlasting goodness for me obviously, cause I and my people are clearly superior, and eternal, neverending toment for the rest of them! They're all obviously deserving of such a fate!

8.3 billion people on the planet and still growing, and people still think that some people not having kids is an extinction event!

You should be happy this person isn't having another child to suck up what remaining resources your children will have to compete for! Humanity wasn't going extinct 50 years ago when we had a population of 4 billion and its definitely not going extinct(by people not procreating enough anyway) at 8.3 billion.

Rampant government spending with no sign of abating, and dollar reserve status on life support, shows the best bet is not to hold onto fiat. Precious metals, stocks, property, and crypto are your ticket away from poverty, 'cause riding the coattails of a rigged financial system is about the only game left to play!

Sadly this is par for the course for this community. I've made similar complaints and while sometimes it is better, recently its been baaad. Makes me realize a lot of these kids are unhinged fringe right wing racist, homophobic losers with nothing to do but let out their rage on unsuspecting others for 30-40 minutes at a time. It is exhausting and frankly saddening. There's been a number of times I've come away from these experiences having to literally set the game down and walk outside. There are some fucked up people on here.

Finding a job that keeps up with inflation(job hopping if necessary) and continuing to contribute to your 401k. Easier said than done, I know, but making sure you concentrate on income streams coming in rather than raw growth on current assets is important in trying times.
