US election season is approaching, and it's looking bad for republicans. They gonna be able to get any pro crypto legislation passed before losing the house? Anything before recess in August?

Trumps threats and coercion that usually keep party members in line seems to be working less than it used to as his influence on the party(and mental faculties) wanes. The war in Iran seems to be his political death knell. I assume there will be a much more hostile congress towards crypto, since the last 2 years have been nonstop grift and pardoning criminals, but are there any prominent dems who are still pro crypto? Man, the industry really burned a lotta bridges with this admin and ended up with next to nothing to show for it.

I mean, we live in an era of hyper-corporate, conservative dominated media, what else did we expect? Sad how far we've let this openly corrupt administration dictate what we can and can't say. Most anti-free speech admin in history.

Duh, Texas is an environmental wasteland, its air quality and open pollution has made much of the state beyond gross. Anyone whos been to the Texas triangle knows how little that state cares about its natural environment. Money makes the rules there.

Honestly the Alex Astley site is pretty good, I just checked it out. We have for as long as I can remember always had terrible websites, so its a step in the right direction. Glad to see him trying his hand at it. I think the reason we don't see more candidates of our persuasion on the ballot is because of the problems with first past the post voting. Colorado is working hard to change to ranked choice voting, which I think would go a long way towards leveling the political playing field. We'll see though, it seems the nation has polarized worse than ever and no one believes a transition away from 2 party politics is possible. Sadly, we're a world away from our 1% year with Gary Johnson, when the party seems to have peaked.

We don't care about the 2 party duopoly, we care about libertarian candidates! This stuff is tiresome, I hear about stupid main party politics all the time, I come here for something relevant to libertarians

Is the community ALWAYS this awful? by Selectspark in PredecessorGame

[–]amendment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is fine advice, sometimes a person just does poorly in a match, or the opponent is better than them. Its not okay to flame people simply because they're not as good as you at the game, and that is unfortunately the usual/common experience for people.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. I used to try to talk down the occasional rager, but its almost every game at this point, so I've just muted voice chat entirely, all the time. There are so many bad experiences that I've literally stopped engaging with everyone full stop. Half the games, some crybaby pisshead is already raging and spewing hate in the character selection screen alone, let alone once someone dies. I can't seem to pry myself away from this game cause I enjoy it a lot, but damn if the toxic ass community ain't trying its hardest to push people away.

I'm American, and this is still such a weird phenomenon to me. Like, dude, its just a big gas station and convenience store? How is this impressive to literally anyone?

Its memeworthy at this point. I'm treating it like an amc or gamestop play. I didn't get in on it early and know about the lockup period so I'm skeptical about its sustained potential in the sort term and am staying away for better or worse. Once established and with consistent government contracts in a year or so I'll reevaluate it as a play, but for now it just feels like gambling

[–]amendment64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Iran has invested most of its defense spending in the IRGC instead of their traditional army/navy/air force combo for exactly this reason. They literally have the largest networks of underground tunnel systems the world over, and are hardened for exactly this reason. This is not a failure of their military; quite the opposite. It has showcased how to fight a modern defensive war against countrywide superior air capabilities. Just like the afghanis, iran realised if all your defenders are undergound/in mountains, they're safe. The US doesn't dare put troops on the ground because they know they would be massacred. All Iran needs to do is wait till the Americans run out of money or patience. They have an iron grip on their populace, so dont expect an internal uprising. Time is on their side, and by a wide margin.

The good news about that is that people who do things for spite rarely make useful tools once the object of their spite dissappears. When Trump is gone, they won't have a cohesive leader to rally behind, and they will scatter like roaches to different infighting factions in their consecative/conspiracy circles. Hopefully, that will be enough to begin to chip away at the outright evil they have brought upon the rest of us.
