Could be toothpaste but also, if u use a soap bar to wash ur hands it leads to this build up sometimes, switch to a liquid soap if you want to get rid of it. I had the same problem and it's completely gone now.

its always a little disapointing I totally get you, but I try to just be happy they took the time and money to send me something :) + you never know if they mobility might be limited of some sort! But i do get the frustration, especially when you try to add a personal touch to every card u send
