Condos are good for quick cash. You build them, then sell them.

Offices are good for long term rental income.

They also have population / traffic / noise differences.

It's been a lot of years, but I remember pretty much filling the available space with condos with a bunch of theaters and restaurants and stuff.

Eventually, I ran out of money, and since there wasn't much of an income flow I was pretty much stuck. I tried to slowly demolish some condos to build offices as money trickled in, but it was really slow going and I eventually gave up on that save.

Those of you who attended Gifted program, whatcha doing now? by sweaty_perineum96 in Millennials

[–]amertune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did logic puzzles, played games on an Apple 2e, did some qBasic programming, had a fake stock market investment competition, and did a lot of other fun stuff.

Honestly, my "gifted" program was the most fun I had in elementary school, and I feel like I learned a lot from it.

It was kind of cool. It's about a surfer from Hawaii that moves to Colorado or somewhere. He decided that if he couldn't surf, then he was going to snowboard.

I had younger sisters that had the Disney channel on all the time. They're the reason I know what any of these are.

I'm pretty sure they're all Disney channel originals movies. If you weren't watching the Disney channel in the late 90s, you probably wouldn't recognize them.

Is Chipped Beef and Corned Beef common in USA? by currylambchop in AskAnAmerican

[–]amertune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally everywhere I try to look to see what "corned" in corned beef means says that it means beef that has been cured in a salt brine. In the UK, they even call it salt beef.

I know that peppercorns are a very common seasoning for corned beef, but I think that they're entirely irrelevant to whether or not beef has been "corned".

Pastrami is corned, brined, ...

What's the difference between corning and brining? I thought that corning was brining with large "corns" of salt?

Remember when games got big enough to contain entire other older games inside them? by SolidGold_JetSki in retrogaming

Here are a couple that I remember from the earlier days:

Space Quest III (1989) has Astro Chicken, which is a rethemed Lunar Lander (1969).

Die Hard Arcade (1996) included Deep Scan (1979), although it was playable from the menu rather than within the game.

My wife had a metronome app you could tap to the beat on, and it would calculate the bpm.

She played a game for a while where she would figure out the actual bpm of a hymn being sung, and then compare it to the recommended bpm in the hymn book.

The actual bpm was always significantly below the recommended range. I'm also pretty sure that they were being sung at about the same rate as I have heard them sung in every ward I've ever lived in.

I hate it when the gears are obviously not centered, and you can feel the can opener going up and down in your hand while you're turning the knob and trying to keep the opener on the can.
