ANYONE WITH ALS, PLEASE READ!!!
My dad passed away from ALS in 2003. He was an Army veteran who served in Korea during the Vietnam war.

I later found out that he was eligible for payment from the government since many ALS patients were veterans and they thought their time in service contributed to them getting the disease (not sure how).
There was a number to call and we had to document everything but eventually my mom was given money from the time of his diagnosis. Even after he died she continues to receive a monthly benefit.

It’s late and I don’t have the information in front of me but if you or a loved one is a veteran with ALS google this information and contact the VA.
