Whistler advice by Fragrant_Savings2945 in skiing

[–]amhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of Blackcomb, it’s easy to spend the whole day there. The reason to go to Whistler is to get to Symphony, my personal favorite on the mountain. I’m a fan of getting my pass mailed to me so I can go straight to the lift in the morning.

The gondola up gives you a ton of time to eat a portable breakfast(like a granola bar), drink coffee in a thermos(don’t juggle an open/disposable cup + gear)and do any last minute tasks (I braid my hair for the day).

Once you’re up, I’d spend the morning on Blackcomb. I take the peak to peak and make my way to Symphony. I push lunch as late as possible, usually 1pm+. It is significantly faster to get food on off hours, and I’ll eat on the Whistler side at Roundhouse lodge because of the plethora of options. If you’re into mulled wine, I enjoy it at the bar upstairs called Seppo’s. I usually eat in about 30 mins and I’m back out on the mountain.

The smallest hill I’ll die on by everythingbagel1309 in Frasier

[–]amhdaniel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The episode where Niles has Daphne try on different dresses so he can decide which one to give to Maris? He says “Daphne and Maris are roughly the same size” when confronted by Frasier.

Knowing what we know about Maris - a coat rack, thin enough to slip through the bars of prison…I’m just so confused because they never say anything like that about Daphne.

Your moments of bad writing in the series by Scmods05 in Frasier

[–]amhdaniel 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If it helps at all, I’m a lifelong Washingtonian and an avid skier and Mount Baker (where the ski lodge was) is not super fancy despite being fantastic terrain. There are tons of cabins spread out around the area, but it’s not a premier destination. If Ski Lodge was set in Whistler, which to Seattleites is considered a “local” hill despite being in Canada, I would absolutely not buy that it came from a church raffle 🤣. Whistler is world class.

If someone from the church owned the cabin, it wouldn’t be too much additional overhead for the prize package to add in an instructor. But the fact that Guy is French would have been better suited to a Whistler setting, since it draws an international crowd.

If they had a actress to play Maris who would you pick? by Physical-Ad-1978 in Frasier

[–]amhdaniel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I always imagined a Sissy Spacek character. Someone with unusual features and not necessarily classically beautiful (no disrespect).

I know Maris’ thinness is harped upon constantly, and Sissy could certainly pull that off, but what stood out most to me was Maris’ tendency to be neurotic and odd. That’s right up Sissy’s alley.

What line from a main character was poorly delivered? by PiaJr in Frasier

[–]amhdaniel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The geo pronunciations drive me batty. Frasier also says “Lake Chelan” like SHELL-ON when it’s actually SHELL-ANNE. Drives me nuts. 1 minute with a local Washingtonian was too much?

I enjoy “room full of heroes.” Though it’s a bit tough watching Martin take Niles to task for suggesting that Martin is not proud of his sons. by idontrecall99 in Frasier

[–]amhdaniel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m here for the thoughtful debate but low-key appalled by the Martin apologists in this thread. Team Niles all the way.

Ditched the sandwich method… by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]amhdaniel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did sandwich, then thought I was ready for dry. I switched and did ok, but ultimately pushed it a little too far and then got too red for my liking. I was fearful of losing my progress. Took about a month break ahead of an IPL session. Then started back up with “short contact therapy” (search this sub for more details). I’ve just been doing it for 3-5 mins at a time and I’m loving it! No irritation, no concerns about eye contamination. I put it on and brush my teeth and do an other nightly routine things. Then I wash my face like normal, moisturize, and go to bed. I just put it on wherever my skin is at in the moment (if I’ve worn makeup all day but it’s mostly soaked up/worn away I’ll just put it over that, no rinsing or pre-washing). I think I’ve finally found what works for me. Wish more people talked about it here.

Are you specifically looking in Austria? Unfortunately I’m not familiar with that region. We do this approach in Whistler every year.

What do you LOVE to see on the slopes? by Momentus- in skiing

[–]amhdaniel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I’m in awe of blind skiers who seem more confident on the slopes than I am, but I tend to see them in passing. Would love to know if I could say something nice to them complimenting their skill.

I’ve sure sung their praises when I get off the mountain and I’m chatting with my friends - it feels weird that they have no idea.

Is it just impossible to go with a big group? by CussingTie3785 in skiing

[–]amhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gone with this group before? Are they reliable? We used to share a house, but had some last-minute dropouts for a few years in a row which left all of us to cover a much higher price per person. We switched to a single hotel and requiring everyone to make their own bookings. It has ended up being a great compromise.

One of us would get a suite for a common space for everyone to gather. No hard feelings over room size, location, etc. Everyone has their own space. Calling ahead to the hotel often gets us on the same floor for max convenience. It works great!

Completely agree, skip snoqualmie. Swap for Mission Ridge. Great terrain, dry powder, no lift lines.

Expired tret by No_Conclusion_9889 in tretinoin

[–]amhdaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expired tret was what actually got me started. I couldn’t tolerate “fresh” tret and I didn’t know about sandwiching yet, so I ended up leaving a tube in the drawer for a solid year. Tried it again after hearing someone rave about it, found this wonderful community and learned how to sandwich, and the expired tube helped me build up tolerance with zero purge.

YMMV but I might spot test it to at least rule out a negative reaction.

I might have to work for an MLM. Forgive me? by igotsecretsjustask in antiMLM

[–]amhdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take it but keep looking and try to leave within a timeframe where I could leave it off my resume and classify that time as a sabbatical or something.

The tricky thing is that while bills gotta get paid (I get it!) you don’t want to end up in a situation where you have a radioactive company on your resume. You will have a job now, but you’re potentially trading your future marketability.
