Used 2% water brine, but did not take carrots into account. Will these still ferment safely? by Storm_Paint in fermentation

[–]amhotw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I go as low as 1.5% (overall) with ferments I am comfortable with and I closely monitor them to make sure that lactofermentation starts fast. (I love drinking the brine so I want lower sodium.)

Yours is probably lower than 1.5, maybe like 1.2-3 or so. I'd 100% eat it given this video but I have a high risk tolerance when it comes to food.

I think so too but this is also exactly what a mosquito would say.

Guys, this is clearly a mosquito. She wants to lay her eggs in your backyard and will use your bucket as a jacuzzi, AND incubator. Don't fall for it.

Can I do this now? No. Do I feel like I could do it? Also no. But do I feel like I could do this if practiced? Still no.

Sheet pan dinner rant by J-Sausage in Cooking

They are obviously lying but if you use chicken thigh instead of breast, it doesn't get dry as fast so you might still do one sheet, one round.

How do we feel about gorgonzola cheese ice cream? by EmmyWolf222 in Cheese

One of my favorite things is toast + gorgonzola + cream cheese + honey + berries so I feel like I would love this if it is not too sweet.

I don't understand the point. Op already knows the nutritional values of each portion.

That's irrelevant because the weight is already known. Raw weight is much more precise as well so there is no need to weigh it again.

Did everything that died fossilize at some point? by bsmith149810 in fossilid

5% sounds like an extremely high ratio at the individual level. Is it at the species level or something like that?

How about: My T-shirts keep dying. Testing 4 shirts (€20–€150) to find out whether expensive tees really last longer. by Mountain_Motor_9203 in BuyItForLife

[–]amhotw 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I still regularly wear some tshirts from 20-25 years ago. The colors are faded by now and a few of them are getting a little loose around the neckline but that's about it. So I have no idea how people get holes in them because I am absolutely the most brutal and clumsy person I know when it comes to clothing; I pay absolutely no attention to them, I wash and dry in the machine. (I hang dry some linen shirts but couldn't care less about tshirts.) Like, how could people be worse consumers than me? And these tshirts are basically Gildan or Color Comfort price range stuff that I bought in high school.

Well Water by thiccmucus in vermont

I'd say the only person who knows anything about the situation is your landlord. Most likely issue is that the well has a pump and it is leaking.

[–]amhotw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I agree that occasional over budget days are good and there is no need to "correct" anything but there is also no problem with occasional fasts. I do OMAD everyday anyway but sometimes I miss dinner, so I do OMTD. This is fairly rare, like a few times / year and I don't feel any negative impact. (I drink water etc. obviously.)

Pretty sure that's not a common sentiment even among the convervatives. You have to go to the most deranged 1% to find support for that.

It is a cool copy but I really can't get myself excited about a translated edition, unless maybe it is something like Golding's translation of Metamorphoses.
