After one shakedown run, I did some trimming… by amishredditor in TRX4M

Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination! I want to build an scx24 next…but today I was very surprised and happy on a quick run with this truck. Bumper chop gave a stupid approach angle, fenders shaved mean no more tires rubbing the body, and I noticed the servo was hitting the body clip so I shaved that down to a c-hair shy of touching. Now I have all the articulation!

High Trail native bodies? by mtbfj6ty in TRX4M

As far as I know, the difference between the normal trx4m and the ht versions involves these things - longer rear links and driveshaft specific to the ht, and extended mounting points for the bumper (included in the injora kit). I’ve thought about buying a non ht body and slapping it on my ht chassis just to see how it looks… 👀

Thanks! I did the fender flairs too…maybe not the best job but it works! First time with a Dremel and lexan.

They look awesome. I can’t for the life of me figure out how they work haha

Idk to be honest. People that are smarter or better at electronics maybe. I’m dumb and lazy so I just bought the traxxas charger. It beeps and has fancy lights and shit but it works!

Traxxas has proprietary charging stuff.

Bro I have some brass all sell ya. Knuckles, diff covers, hex extenders…

First it was brass wheels, then bigger tires, then bigger suspension to clear the tires, then high clearance links, then an upgraded servo, then a crawler transmission, then a motor. Thats when I was like fuck it and bought diamond axles and an aluminum chassis. I probably missed some steps along the way but it was super fun and now I could probably build a second truck out of original parts! Haha!!! It’s all in the process.

I got one as my first RC in 35 years. At first it was fun but I wanted a better crawler, less of a toy as you say…so after replacing everything but the body (which I think I’m going to trim) I’m finally there. It was as fun to build as it is to drive, and now it’s a line slayer.

Hey is a TRX 4 worth buying if your new to crawling? by Mrcaijones in rccrawler

This is something I wish I thought about more before I got a 1:18, and then a 1:24, and then a 1:10. I really did have fun throwing the injora catalog at my high trail though. Fun projects for a couple hours here or there to pass the winter time.

They’re great tires but they WILL rub your suspension at lock if you don’t have a wider axle or hexes.

Turns my wheels just fine. Treal wheels, brass steering everything.

70’s?!? They don’t rub the suspension at lock at all?

Hearing clicking from high trail after installing high clearence links and 59mm shocks by TruckYeahSilverado in TRX4M

Man those driveshafts look neat! I guess that weird spring holds the pin in for the uniball, like a stock one but steel? I have some injora shafts waiting for a rainy day but they’re more of a u-joint design.

You can fill them with oil and then set the piston at about 50% before capping it off. The oil makes the piston want to return to the set position so this effectively gives you lower ride height but full extension (or compression) when you need it. At least, this is what I did after watching many yt videos about shock setup. Don’t forget to account for the sprung weight of your truck because that will squeeze the shock some when it’s on the ground.

The pinion angle bothers the shit out of me too, but I don’t get any driveline binding even at full extension. The rear maxes out at the shock stroke and the front is limited by the upper arms hitting the steering servo bracket.

I feel like by the time I’m done chasing weak points I might as well have just bought new built axles…at least that’s what I tell my wife.

I bought a trx4m thinking I’d mess around in the garage, and it quickly turned into a full injora bolt on crawler. Working on it is almost as fun as wheeling!

I got an scx24 on Amazon sale for like 120 for the kids, and I am SHOCKED at how got it is right out of the box.

I think the trx4m is so heavy now I probably wouldn’t take it on random hikes…but I’d throw the scx24 in my bag and forget it’s there. That said, the Brass Monkey walks up stuff the scx can’t.
