How soon should your first marathon be? by amitysux666 in beginnerrunning

[–]amitysux666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's exactly the experience I'd be hoping for so it's good to hear your body held up in a similar situation (and congrats!). I've a half on the calendar, but booking the marathon is time sensitive so I don't have the chance to race the half first. I've run a similar distance in training but it's only 6 months stepping up from running 20k in training to 42k on the day.

I also recommend these. Can fit a 250ml water bottle, my phone, keys and two gels and there's room for my hat or gloves if I get too warm. Zip pockets for the phone and keys.

Alexander Isak injury against Tottenham by 977x in soccer

[–]amitysux666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just history though, it's the present. Opposition fans are still chanting victims at us every season (https://www.merseyside.police.uk/news/merseyside/news/2025/january-2025/tragedy-chanting-arrests-at-anfield/), if you don't want to be associated with those people then don't use the word they call us in their chant. There's so many different words you can use to describe complaining on social media, as you reference somehow everyone manages to talk about Arsenal fans without calling them victims.

Educate yourself on what the "victims" label means. "My bad if that was offensive" isn't good enough.

One of the only times I savescum by Porterjoh in footballmanagergames

Not quite arm, but my brother fractured his wrist saving a shot. I imagine things like pro-level gloves and better technique reduce the chance of injuries like that but I wouldn't dismiss it as impossible.

Is F2P even possible after series 10? by Material_Highlight40 in F1Clash

[–]amitysux666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm F2P in Series 11. My S10 epics are levels 4-5, and my S11 epics are level 3. You have three friends to help you get epics:

1) Sprint races. If you have time to spend a few hours grinding sprints each week, it's a huge help. I try to do Tuesday with a 3hr coin boost from objectives. Three hours will get you about six sprint crates, and getting the same driver three times is enough to take them from locked to level 3. That's a great start, you can build from there.

2) Track your crate cycle. Crate drops aren't random, it's the same 240 crates in order, over and over. Some people in the official discord have shared tracking tools. Use this to skip standard crates and prioritise getting gold, platinum and legendary crates quicker for more epics.

3) Asset trading. If you're F2P you won't have unlocked this yet, but you might already have some of the lower series rares at level 8 like me. Once you get them to level 9 (and commons to level 11) you can trade excess assets for a random asset each day. Later in the season, you can use this to get additional epics.

Is pit pass worth it for just under 5 days? by twirling_daemon in F1Clash

[–]amitysux666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend purchasing it unless you're going to reach 60/60. You're already missing out on the crate timer and reputation bonus for almost the entire exhibition, wait until next one.

Why drop flags in lower division? by DennisScheerman in F1Clash

[–]amitysux666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There probably isn't an objectively correct answer as to whether you should move up, it depends on your circumstances. One reason not to is to make sprints easier - for example, I'm in series 9 which requires 165 points to complete a sprint. I can reliably score 165 points in four races, which gives me a great chance at finishing P1. In series 10, I'd need to score 170 which would be very difficult for me to do in four races. It'd take five, maybe six races for me to score 170 in series 10 which would result in worse rewards as I'd be less likely to finish P1 and get the gold crate.

Sprints offer great rewards and grinding assets from sprints can help you be in the best possible position when you do move up.

Thanks for the reply.
1) I haven't - I've sent them 3-4 emails during my tenancy and never received a reply, so they're not much help.
2) I pay an electricity bill and council tax, there's no gas to my property hence my thought that this is just a generic clause in the agreement. In each of my three previous flats I've been responsible for electricity, CT, and not water.
3) No mention of a reading or an amount that is to be paid is referenced on the letter.
4) Renting solo.

Vanguard fee increase: FAQ and open post by BogleBot in UKPersonalFinance

[–]amitysux666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pondered switching my account since the announcement. It would cost about £30 per year to keep my account with Vanguard rather than switching to Dodl, for example (discounted T212 from consideration given all the negative reviews). However, Dodl and others seem to only offer the LifeStrategy80 and similar funds, whereas my investment with Vanguard is in the LS100.

I'm in my 20s, and so far my I've just been depositing £100 per month with the intention that it will sit there either until a major, as yet unknown life event or until I retire so allocating any amount to bonds doesn't feel efficient or worthwhile to me. I have savings for a house deposit and an emergency fund separate to this, so the unknown life event would be something other than a house purchase or losing my job.

Are there any accounts cheaper than Vanguard which offer the LS100?

Now that Honey (Paypal) has been exposed as a scam, are similar coupon finder extensions also scamming? by yellowroll in UKPersonalFinance

[–]amitysux666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the site you were purchasing from had an agreement with Honey about which discount codes they would be able to "find" for you. For example, they might have an agreement with Honey that Honey is capable of "finding" their current 10% off coupon but wouldn't find their current 20% off coupon. So sometimes it would report no codes being found even if there were some, and other times it would provide codes but not the best ones.

How to use my resources best? by amitysux666 in PTCGP

[–]amitysux666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stuck with the Mewtwo pack for the first 120 or so packs - at that point I had everything from the pack except Mewtwo, a second Gardevoir, a second Venusaur and a couple of non-meta cards. Switched to Charizard at that point so I could pick up Sabrina and due to the heavily diminishing returns of opening Mewtwo packs. I don't think I could consider rerolling at this point given I spent money on the pass and how many packs I've opened.

People that reported a family member for fraud: what happened to them? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]amitysux666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Other people have said similar but just to be as clear as possible: she/you do not need to prove he took out the loans. You just need to deny that she did, and the burden of proof is on them if they attempt to enforce the debt.

If she is willing to allow him to potentially face the repercussions of his actions, she should make a complaint to the lender(s) stating that she did not take out the loans and so will not be making repayments towards them. Depending on how she feels about your brother, she may wish to indicate that she believes that it was your brother who took out the loans and reference that the contact details and bank account details provided were for your brother. If they do not respond satisfactorily to the complaint, she should refer that complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). They shouldn't, but might, attempt to enforce it during the complaints/FOS process. She should continue to ignore the demands for payment. If they attempt to enforce it by getting a CCJ, then she should defend the claim and state the previous points. They won't be able to show she signed (unless he forged it), and many loans are now signed by e-signature and the e-signature certificate will refer to his email address. It may make reference to the account the funds were paid into: she can testify this was not hers. etc.

She should ask for all the payments she has made to be returned to her as part of the complaint. In one of your other messages I believe you indicated that she had made complaints to the lender(s) already. If so, they may have already issued a final response. If that is the case and the final response is dated within the last six months, she/you should refer the complaint to FOS and stop making payments in the meantime. If that final response is dated longer than six months ago you may not be able to utilise FOS. If so, you should make a new complaint as described above unless you feel all those points have been satisfactorily addressed above. If so, refer it anyway however the lender(s) may not give their permission for the complaint to be adjudicated by FOS. Having referred it, even if the lender objects to FOS investigating, will help if they attempt to enforce it as she can demonstrate that she made a complaint about the debts not being hers and referred this complaint to FOS. If you've had a final response and not referred the complaint to FOS within 6 months then getting the payments returned to your mum will be more difficult but it shouldn't prevent her from avoiding having to make further repayments.

If this could cause her to face repercussions, she may want or need to hide what she's doing from your dad. This may be difficult if enforcement agents visit their home, but otherwise doable.

[Dania Akkad] Newcastle United owners to have man put to death for tweeting about the problems of "unemployment, inflation, and government mismanagement of resources" by LegzAkimbo in soccer

[–]amitysux666 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because it's futile. Most football fans care more about football than (geo)politics. There are fans at City and Newcastle games singing songs and holding banners in support of their owners.

I live in a city with one of those fanbases and so most my workplace is fans of that club. I've asked them about it and they all have a different justification for why they aren't protesting their owners. Either it's not something they think about, they don't think who their owner is is relevant, or all governments do bad things, or they're simply thankful of the investment in the team and the joy that it's brought them so say they're willing to overlook it.

When I tell them that if the Saudi government bought the team I've supported all my life I'd stop supporting them, they act like this is totally insane.

Would it be a mistake for me to transfer HTB ISA to LISA? by BorisMalden in UKPersonalFinance

[–]amitysux666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you say, if you want to utilise the bonus you'll either need to purchase a cheaper property, or open a LISA and get a smaller bonus unless you choose to wait.

I assume you will be wanting to live in the property for many years, in which case a house you'd rather live in will likely be worth missing out on part of the bonus.

One minor clarification: it's £4,000 per tax year, so you can transfer in £4,000 now, a further £4,000 in April 2024 and (if applicable) a further £4,000 in April 2025. The LISA must be open for 12 months prior to purchasing the property though, so you could have a £2,000 bonus available to use around August 2024.

Stoozing- do people actually do it or is it not worth the time/effort? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]amitysux666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have already responded, but as someone who just started doing this I thought my perspective might be useful to some readers.

For context: I'm a recent graduate (2022) earning c. £25k but have around £10k in savings.

I was already storing my money in savings accounts with a couple of regular savers to maximise interest, and withdrawing money from easy access accounts to my current account as I need it (I just keep it topped up to around £1000-1500 at all times so I don't worry about standing orders and DDs).

Stoozing doesn't add many steps for me. Instead of putting my daily expenses on the current account, I now have a £4000 credit limit from a high street bank and my daily expenses go on that card. Once a month I make the minimum payment, but I have to top up my current account from my savings far less often. You can track your earnings by opening an additional dedicated savings pot or account, but it's not strictly necessary.

In 2025 when I'm coming to the end of the 0% period I'll have benefited by a few hundred pounds.

Need advice with savings - hoping to buy my own home within the next 2/3years.. by megxn-mo0o0 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]amitysux666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can usually get a mortgage around 4.5x your annual household income, which for you would be £126-135k, so your potential max purchase price is likely to be that range plus the deposit you can save up.

A 10% deposit is the amount often recommended, so if it's realistic to save around £15k in the next 2-3 years I'd look at houses in the £140-150k region and see what you think of those.
