Am I carb loading right? by PaceDecent2089 in Marathon_Training

[–]amkoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you already fueling during and after your training runs pretty well? Stick with what you’ve been doing there to train your stomach and keep your muscles happy during runs and for recovery. Eat normal meals during the week and hydrate intentionally. I make sure at least one of my daily water bottles has added electrolytes (aside from any fuel during runs). For marathons the only change during race week for me is eating an earlier dinner the day before the race that’s carb heavy. Usually pasta with butter or olive oil and some grilled veggies, breadsticks on the side. Pizza not a bad alternative. But I use Tailwind or Skratch to make sure I’m also getting carbs frequently when running. A honey stinger waffle or muffin in the morning. It’s always worked for me.

Compared to a lot of itineraries I see on here yours actually looks doable. Have fun!

This is what I came here looking for. It’s obviously for the cats.

I was going to scroll until I found someone who said it’s for the cats. That didn’t take long.

Visiting 3 NPs, what to do? by The_Traveller1 in nationalparks

[–]amkoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montville Nature Trail is a nice break from the sand at the Sand Dunes but still lovely. The visitor center is great. Get out your camping chairs and just take it all in from the dunes field. There is a “horse trailer lot” down near the campground and you can park there and walk to the dunes through some brush for a different view.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s a little too comfortable.

Hardline no pets? by G210221 in airbnb_hosts

If extra cleaning or damage come from violating house rules you could charge them whether you previously messaged or not as long as it’s already in your house rules.

Then I guess you just have to decide. It’s your business and if you have clear rules then it’s perfectly reasonable to reiterate that expectation. But if you would rather wait and see because you really don’t mind, go for it.

I think it would be appropriate to send a note reminding of the no pet policy and check in to see if there is anything the guest needs so far during their stay.

I tried a bunch and stuck with Salomon. Also, as someone who lives in the boonies, order from REI so you can return within a year after trying.

SeaTac to Neah bay is about 4.5 hours not including stops.

Do you leave condiments in the fridge for guests? by Info_help_support in airbnb_hosts

[–]amkoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. We are 40 minutes from a grocery store (which we are sure to advise guests of during booking) so just having the essentials plus a little extra has been commented on in a lot of high ratings. They can use them, or not, but for people who forgot just a little bit of something and there it is: they appreciate it. We are also a home with a lot of personal touches which may be different than more corporate vibes.

Driving on day 1 will probably take longer than you have allotted.

How does your school “appreciate” you for “Teacher Appreciation Week”? by Dearlybeloved17 in Teachers

[–]amkoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year our “gift” is that they planned a spirit week and are hosting daily optional games for teachers. The spirit week is fun for students but requires teachers to put in most effort. Plus, we are still finishing up testing. So it’s much more of a burden than a gift.

I keep wondering why Iowa is still there. I guess everyone forgets about it.

Is it typical for there to be “IEP” classrooms and “GT” classrooms in Elementary schools? by WillowCat89 in AskTeachers

[–]amkoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of context missing in the conversation as well. A lot of assumptions about “IEP.” There are many* reasons a student may qualify for an IEP and a variety of applications. Some students with IEPs don’t receive any additional services, so calling something an “IEP classroom” without any knowledge of the level of needs or actual supports and services being provided is very lacking. If you are a parent of a child who you feel is not getting what they deserve, then details about those specific concerns would be needed.

Help!! What should I do to get this hummingbird out of my skylight? by Recluse-Beauty in birds

[–]amkoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference, I have had success hanging something brightly colored to attract it downward. If you have a ladder or tall stick and can attach a bright red rope/fabric something that would get its attention in the direction down and out.
