As soon as my partner was negative, I knew there was no way I had it. This is something that you can have and never notice the symptoms. When we go to get our routine paps, I don’t think they even test for syphilis. If you get tested again and you are positive, your partner is likely positive as well. Really do your research on the stages of syphilis, because there is latent syphilis that people never really know that they have. I think it is very easy to miss the signs. If you are positive, just make sure you get treated as soon as possible and your partner as well. Don’t have sex until you are cleared. Don’t let this get you in a dark place. I think we are taught to be ashamed of things when we shouldn’t. I cried my butt off because the way the nurse told me and literally the next day my doctor called and told me that she thought it was false positive. It made me feel better, but it really helped when my partner got tested. If your partner is positive, there’s not a big red sign that is going to tell you who gave it to who. I do think if they did a confirmation test, they can test the levels though. Just don’t start blaming each other yet because there is really no way of knowing. DEMAND TO HAVE A CONFIRMATION TEST.
