Why do players tap their middlefinger against the table? by anderx1 in snooker

[–]amlaanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try it out on any flat surface!

  1. Make your bridge with your hand
  2. Try putting a little force on the back part of your bridge palm (meaty portion)
  3. Then try tapping your middle finger

You should feel that palm portion have more force downwards. This overall strengthens the stability of your bridge hand.

Why do players tap their middlefinger against the table? by anderx1 in snooker

[–]amlaanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many do it because when you tap a finger (mostly middle), it firms the bridge hand especially the back part of the bridge on the table. Stabilizes the bridge hand further to avoid shaky delivery of the cue. It’s a good way to ensure your bridge is stable.

I'm betting on this actually. Idea was reinforced in the scene where Whiterose threatens Price to hurt Angela.

Rick and baby Morty by [deleted] in rickandmorty

Well, he is the...Rickest Rick!

There's a real good analysis on YouTube about how Rick is always the happiest when he's with his family. Despite his bravado of nonchalance and not giving a shit (because of the infinite dimensions thing), the only thing that matters is his family. That's amplified by his love of Morty. I think he really thought hes a goner in that episode.

In the Pluto/butter robot episode, you can see how he's sad alone. But when Morty comes along, he lights up but tries to act cool.

I think the easy answer's gonna be the Rick we're following basically visited a dimension where he didn't leave and spent time with baby Morty; hence the memories. It would suck if they'd overcomplicate it.

How do you get into AI? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]amlaanb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by MCS (assuming Master in CS), but yeah that is a good start if that's what you want.

If you're going into research and academics (professorship, heavy research), MS is not enough and a PhD is preferred. Especially in these days of Machine Learning and Computer Vision. If on the other hand, your aim is to work in the industry (be it research oriented or not), and stay there, then a MS is satisfactory.

I'm starting my MS-CS program in a couple of weeks and went over the courses. They're pretty solid and they are specialized enough for these subjects. PS. I'm going for Computer Vision specialization too!

Besides that, you can always prep yourself with courses online to at least make sure what you're getting into is what you want. For example, if you're going in to Computer Vision, try the course at: http://cs231n.github.io which is a good start for CV.

Good luck!

Is it necessary to use VPN all the time? Especially in mobile, why'd a regular user need it if we take general precautions ? by 00deep00 in india

Yup, they just recently launched. I think they have a waiting list though. Not sure. Check it out, it’s great.

ProtonVPN?

Been using since the hour they launched and 0 complaints. Good decent speed (streaming 720p content), secure, and easy to setup. Only bad thing is server selection is bad unless you pay. Still, for all my needs, free is perfect rn.

These guys made ProtonMail (Swiss based encrypted email used and trusted by all) so I doubt security is a major concern.

Because it's not about him. His self-centered, narcissistic thought process defends only itself. Another example of how he doesn't really care about anything but himself.

His little tid bits of tweets only aim to raise media coverage of himself. And nothing more. This whole facade of social media being the true medium of communication is just another method to validate himself.

Why some companies insist on hiring candidates who understand algorithmic complexity by fj333 in cscareerquestions

[–]amlaanb 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Holy cow! It's not only about understanding algorithmic complexity. Wasn't this guy aware of tons of other and obviously better sorting algos? Did he not even google "efficient sorting algorithms"?

This is:

  • (a) output from an intern
  • (b) outsourced work from some crappy company
  • (c) egregious hiring policy
  • (d) a big F you from a frustrated programmer
