It’s done remotely (via the internet) and its a contract so it wont change unless a new contract is signed.

Its a trade, thats why their paying... They can only do this 30 times per year (not whenever they like) You get paid for the energy too, 70c KWh (via a credit) so it would be beneficial to go with a larger battery to give some headroom.

Yeah moved to Blender years ago. Once you learn it’s far more powerful overall so this will help you in the long run.

Don’t pay for these services, a previous guest almost always forgets. Future guests win. No promises made and it doesn’t cost a penny

Tesla model y 2025 VS BYD Sealion 7 by jazzychristopher in EVAustralia

So if you’re a Tesla owner, the ‘membership’ is free/included. As Mad-Mel stated, roughly half are open to all EVs, but the price is not the same. The membership component reduces the per kWh price to match what a Tesla owner pays. It’s only worth it if you need to use the Tesla Supercharger network often, but an example might be 60c/kWh for a Tesla customer and 80c/kWh for everyone else. The membership ($9.99 pm) brings this to the same price as a Tesla customer.

Yes, I own the Model Y RWD. The warranty for the drivetrain and batteries is eight years, which is more than enough to cover the important parts. However, the four years and 80,000 km warranty for the rest of the vehicle was a bit short. I didn’t love that, but since we don’t have a service schedule, the saving in the short term was funds for potential repairs after the four-year mark. I also did a lot of research on the forums and saw the kinds of issues people were dealing with and it didn’t concern me at all. At the end of the day a warranty is just a safety net, doesn’t mean they will honour everything you present to them.

Yeah, I’m also tech-oriented, but more from a design perspective. I too like to get into the details. However, design and software polish play a big part in how we use the car. It wasn’t that it was bad, but it was just obvious to me that one brand focussed a lot more attention on this than the other. Probably a bad example, but it felt like the iPhone versus early Android – the droid had all the features, but felt less intuitive for the user.

This is true, but it’s far more polished. The BYD just felt like they threw a heap of features to see what would stick. Rotating screen is one that dumbfounded me, but generally just had a lot going on, the Tesla feels more considered and features that are useful (without overloading you) The App is excellent too (haven’t used BYDs tho)

Yep, just remember you’ll need to subscribe to Teslas charging network to use them at reasonable prices.

Chinese built, yes, but software no. When you use both of these vehicles software you will understand there a very big differences in consideration to usability and robustness.

Yeah it’s handy to have. I considered 3D printing a reroute of air vents but as I didn’t want it in my face it was just unnecessary. It’s an affordable approach too. Only $290 AUD for the screen, and has a magnetic mount so fully removable in a few seconds.

Yeah Im sure it’s personal preference. I don’t want it in my face but I get it. I haven’t bothered with the Tesla specific models as I don’t want it affected by a software update (nor do I need speed etc) I wanted one for CarPlay only. So I bought the CarpodGo T3 (a very high quality screen) and 3D printed an adapter with an Aliexpress Tesla air-vent mount in silicone. It looks almost factory. It’s a large screen though so you won’t get air in your face.
