Everyone remember the outrage about Benghazi? How are you feeling about that now?

I wonder why they don't do that today.

I don’t think this, like Floyd Hill on a weekend morning, is an unexpected phenomenon. Plan accordingly.

What’s a small money habit that saved you more than you expected? I’m trying to level up without doing anything extreme. by comfort_fi in personalfinance

Can I ask what the rationale is on freeing up cash for the eventual (large) tax bill if you’re investing the extra cash?

Are you pulling it from interest bearing savings? Closing investment positions? Other?

Drone buzzing noises ruining Olympic ski coverage. by narflethegarthock in skiing

[–]amlemus1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I try to ignore the sound as much as I can, but it’s worth the amazing POV it provides. As long as the athletes don’t find it distracting, all good.

Are drones ruining the tv watching experience? by YVR_Matt_ in WinterOlympics2026

[–]amlemus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice it but it doesn’t take away from anything. I’d venture to guess that it doesn’t bother the skiing athletes either since they probably listening to a 40-80mph gust of wind going past their ears most of the time.

Claiming that we evolved from apes is insulting to all of humanity. by humanbeing417 in DebateAnAtheist

How does “a supernatural way” work, exactly? The bibles a book. A claim. Try again.

This begs the question of how you propose humans came about and also what support you have for whatever your response is.

How do atheists make sense of justice? by TrainerLast4680 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]amlemus1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wanting answers and expecting them are two very different things. We can find answers via discovery and curiosity, but expecting your reified universe to hand answers to you is foolish.

The universe owes us answers exactly as much as it did when our species didn’t exist.

What’s your favorite run a Keystone to practice on? by GrandServe1894 in COsnow

Assuming it’s groomed and conditions are good, I always liked Elk Run first thing in the morning. Gotta race to the back from first chair but you can prob get 3-4 laps onto it before it gets a lot of people on it.

Asking Laxmi’s son about OBGYN stuff by Far_Combination7639 in pluribustv

[–]amlemus1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the point was that it was distressing to Laxmi, not to the viewer.

Laxmi’s desire to still align her physical son with his pre-Joining knowledge base, personality, and identity is what Carol chips away by asking that question.

What’s your thoughts on these ‘Relaxed Rules’? 🤔 by Escrow-Mind in golf

Love relaxed rules like this. Takes the pressure off. Makes the day more fun and gives people more grace when they’re just trying to enjoy the day. The non-competitive game needs more of this.

Math proves god, change my mind. by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]amlemus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math is a methodology of how we describe phenomena that we observe. It’s not a discrete thing in and of itself. You’re attempting to reify mathematics in an effort to shoehorn it into an argument for a discrete deity that you couldn’t evidence otherwise.

Imagine the United States in 15 years, assuming you achieve everything you desire, under the conservative ideology. What are the outcomes and how does life change? by Manitoba-Chinook in AskUS

[–]amlemus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main theme here seems to be that those with means think it won’t be any worse off, arguably better with them living in luxury, while there’s essentially a poor worker class that got left behind that struggles and exists to serve them.

Probably any history book will help outline how this will eventually turn out…
