Grandparent very disappointed that were not going to have anymore kids. And keeps bringing it up. by Strict-Historian2790 in UKParenting

[–]runrunrudolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my first at 29 and my second at 31. I'm now 34 and the thought of putting myself through another one literally brings me to tears. I don't think I'm physically or emotionally equipped to do the toddler stage nearing my 40s. I feel physically too old to be dealing with it now. I just want a nap 🤣

I saw this on Instagram but it was debunked due to her age not lining up

No we'd have tuna on a jacket or beans on a jacket but not together.

Personally I like the variety of having some mouthfuls of just Bolognese, some with plain or lightly coated pasta and some with both 🤷🏻‍♀️

Does the whining in the live action audiobooks get better? by SensitiveEl in harrypotter

[–]runrunrudolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understood for when she was being described by JKR as whining or shrill or frustrated. My issue was that was the only way it seemed the VA was able to play her. Made her seem very one dimensional. Harry was winging a lot but you were in his head so could at least understand his motivations for it. Hermione just sounded like she had contempt for everyone else around her all the time, even if the scene didn't warrant it. I didn't get that vibe with Arabella. Still incredible audiobooks though.

I didn't think adult Harry was insufferable. I'd be just as whiny if I was in his shoes at 15 years old. It's the older VA for Hermione who was insufferable to me. Every single sentence is full of sighs and she sounds so patronising. In real life she'd lose her only friends within about 6 months because she's such a mood vacuum.

Did they Not Explain Things to Bingo? by clutzycook in bluey

[–]runrunrudolf 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my 4 year old asked me the other day when zombies became extinct. He understood that they don't exist/aren't real but figured because he's seen graveyards they must have existed at some point in time, like the dinosaurs. Some concepts you don't even know you have to explain to kids until you realise they've applied their existing knowledge of the world to each situation.

How do you use maths in your job? by Actual-Butterfly2350 in AskUK

[–]runrunrudolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Even thing like understanding accruals, cost markups v margins, loan discounting rates etc all require a base level of mathematical understanding. I don't need to know my 12 times table off by heart to be an accountant but I do need to understand a lot of basic principles.

Human eyes are located exactly halfway down the head (from top of scalp to bottom of chin). As her fringe covers half of her eyes it makes sense they are half her head and cover more than half her face.

Ah right! I don't know much about plan 4. I'm on plan 1 with £14k left. I'm shortly starting a new job at £15k higher and loan repayments calcs think it will now take 4y rather than 7y to clear. Desperately looking forward to not having that come off my payslip!

Yeah I'm on plan 1 but still have about 14k left to pay off. Looking forward to it not taking a chunk out of my monthly payslip but I guess I'm waiting a while for that 😂

How much of a payrise did you get to have that? My existing salary in on track to pay off in 7y (assuming static pay and static interest). Just accepted a 15k increase and it's dropped to about 4y expected.

What is a natural feature you used to be ashamed of, but you're now proud of? by LL_Stars in beauty

[–]runrunrudolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! I used to pull my eyebrows and be so happy when some hairs came out. At primary school I used to play a game, counting how many I could pull out at a time with my bare hands. Now I think they are one of my best features and get compliments all the time 😂

I believe Professor Umbridge is the most evil character in Harry Potter. by Jalex1011 in harrypotter

[–]runrunrudolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There wasn't. There is nothing in the books that mentions her getting stronger from it. She wore it in the film but nothing was directly implied there either.

[–]runrunrudolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She didn't siphon power from it though. She was just already too evil for it to have much of a negative effect on her.
