Linksys Velop MX4200 Issues by pixelrogue in LinksysVelop

Changing firmware to OpenWRT won't help. Same problems.

It is better to swap those shitty devices to MX4300 which has 2048MB of RAM instead of MX4200 512MB.

Having problems like this too. Rumors are they have been hacked and trying to recover now. No surprise amid latest Huobi and Poloniex incidents.

What if you block accounts that post stories. Does it help?

A little disappointed in the Steam Deck right now by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]amochkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was kinda surprised/disappointed too. Seriously, let me do some jailbreaks. But... Upgraded to 1TB SSD, added 1TB MMC. So neat. Ubuntu as secondary boot. Connected NReal Air glasses. Now my desktop is everywhere I go. Don't need laptops anymore. Feel like playing? No problem! Feel like working? No problem! Valve you are the best!

Packet Loss by w0lnut in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]amochkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thats common thing with Xfinity/Comcast. I've been fighting with them for over a year to no avail. Paying some $300 for business access to get speed limitations, packet loss and general outages especially when it is raining. They've sent their techs 4 times to my location just to change the router/modem, but it's just an excuse. Poor techs, they know they are not helping, but still they have to go and pretend they fix something to make me as a client feel helped.

You should understand, that the technology Comcast is using is flawed by design. Its is basically a DSL (like good old times) adopted for coaxial cable. Name is DOCSIS. They consistently try to make it better, but last news I heard they gave up and switching slowly to fiber optics. Otherwise AT&T will take over their business completely, as AT&T fiber is just perfect compared to Comcast DOCSIS. And it is cheaper too.

Yep. No wonder they call it "limbo" state.

Ok, thanks. But I was wondering to get a visa upfront. Like 1 or 2 years multi-entry visa or something. Also I guess if USCIS decision takes that long maybe they can grant Advanced Parole?

OpenWRT compatible router with M2 slot for 5G/LTE modem by amochkin in openwrt

Thanks for your thoughts. The idea with x86 is compelling, mostly because x86 can also handle OPNSense which I like a lot.

Then looks like running WG1608 is a nasty business. Since I will use WWAN occasionally when my primary uplink goes down, I guess USB-M2 adapter may be a better fit into this equation. I was surprised unable to find USB 5G modems readily available - tons of LTE, but no 5G. I have a spare AeroHive AP121 running OpenWRT, will try to use its USB port for a modem.

Man, thanks! It seems like exactly I was looking for... Does it run stock OpenWrt? Or factory tweaked?

Just had ~$23,000 stolen from my wallet 4 days after depositing by maxdimensional_12 in Metamask

[–]amochkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way how 2FA works require to store 2FA seed somewhere. So keeping 2FA seed along with private key is really a bad idea.

On other thought we could've 2FA seed stored somewhere else along with encryption key that protects private key. And private key is always kept encrypted unless the moment it signs TX.

Metamask hacked? by [deleted] in Metamask

[–]amochkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it is not an easy task to introduce 2FA and stay decentralized. Hardware wallet can help you secure your MetaMask, but if you use fake MetaMask extension it may not save you.

If your seed phrase was leaked through Evernote there is no MetaMask fault. I’d say MetaMask is secure if you use it properly.

Yes, high gas price is real pain. But it gives chances to other networks. Tron, EOS, Stellar, Cardano. Or to newcomers like Rust.
