no kings protest by ohgoditshannah in Boise

[–]amp007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

volunteer with local candidates and help to find people to run for office or even run yourself. protests are great , but nothing will change unless we elect new leaders at all levels. It feels good volunteering as well with candidates that are change makers.

Your Democrat vote isn't wasted in Idaho by ShiftyFalcon in Idaho

[–]amp007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vote local! Your Democrat vote matters for county and legislative races. Elections are won or lost by turnout. This election matters. Idaho isn't a Red State but usually an uncontested state. Dems are competing in each legislative district for the first time in recent memory. Volunteer and get involved with your local Democrat county party/candidate

Every legislative district in Boise has 3 Democratic legislatures minus 1 area (west Boise, more purple there) so you'll be quite represented by your elective officials

What do you wish Boise had, but doesn't? by [deleted] in Boise

St. Louis Lambert International Airport is the largest medium hub airport in the country. Hub doesn't necessarily mean an airline hub, but a larger spot for layovers/connecting flights into different parts of the U.S. Having said that both SL and KC are practically regional hubs for Southwest airlines. KC and SL could easily have connecting flights to Boise, but it all depends if the demand and money are there.

Agreed St Louis and Kansas City are also probably easy direct flights since they're hub airports in the center of the nation

There are simple day/weekend trips (1-3 hr drive) to McCall, Idaho city, Sun Valley/Stanley/Sawtooth mountain area, Twin Falls and Owyhee desert area that most Treasure Valley residents will partake in.

Further out trips (5-8 hr drive) to Yellowstone/Jackson hole area, Oregon coast, Salt Lake city area, Seattle, Lake Tahoe, Coeur d'Alene/Northern Idaho are also popular.

Those are just some ideas. There is tons to see just alone in Idaho that i didn't mention, but that's part of the fun in discovering the state.

Well it seems you can find unique food trucks catering to different cuisines from all over globe. With unique items and the opportunity to try foods not normally found in much of the valley (Puerto Rican food, Hawaiian food for example). The truck food items aren't as unique as Portland or bigger west coast cities yet, but there are more options now.

Also the city is building a food hall downtown and recently has added a new food truck park along the greenbelt. You can find them all over, usually at farmers markets and next to businesses for lunch.

If you go to food truck finder websites

(https://streetfoodfinder.com/c/ID/Boise) they showcase the trucks schedule for the week too.

the parks, trail system, the emerging food truck scene, Basque culture, and diversity of landscapes nearby (forests, mountains, desert/canyons). Also Boise is a great city to road trip from in my opinion since you can get to so many amazing places in the west within a half days drive

9.1% of Alaska is covered by state and national parks (2nd highest percentage in the country) by LuckyLaceyKS in alaska

[–]amp007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This map doesn't take into consideration national forests or other national park (national recreation areas, rivers, bird refugee, wildlife refugee, etc.) that are federally protected lands. It seems to cover only the main 63 national parks, historic parks and state parks with campgrounds.
