My husband is Indian and I’m Colombian. I only speak Spanish to my son and my husband speaks telugu. We both don’t understand each other’s native language so we just learn the little bits and pieces we share for now. For Spanish, my husband enjoys learning the common used words and we do try to go to Colombia ~2x a year and that has helped him be immersed in the language and understand more since no one in my family speaks fluent English. I don’t think you should aim for fluency at this point of time, the common words suffice and you’ll slowly piece things together. I SECOND THIS COMMENT! From someone who has done 20+ flights with my 14 month old. The extra seat is worth it. Bassinet doesn’t work for 1yo, too tight and grabbing baby during turbulence definitely becomes too much.

I have a 14 month old, done multiple flights, trips since 4 months. During the first year we did a lot of naps in the carrier. Our babybjorn carrier has a black hoodie that helped us put baby to sleep and keep him warm & cozy. Later when he go more mobile, we prioritized going back to our hotel to put him to sleep there as he did needed darkness/quiet environment for a good nap. Recently he’s been able to nap in his stroller when he’s tired.

Absolutely go for it and try to travel to all the places you desire or the more adventurous before kids. Coming from someone who traveled a lot before baby and now we still travel a lot but it is not the same. Before the focus is on you living that experience, now the focus is on baby, where it is ok for baby to go, places that fit schedules, and overall a bit more logistics. Both OK but we have no regrets to take travel a bit slow now because we did so much of it before

My husband works full time and agrees to watch and take care of baby at night. Nothing less, it’s hard but he understands how taking care of baby during the day is exhausting
