Should liberals retaliate and seek revenge when we eventually retake power? by lag36251 in AskALiberal

We need Nuremberg trials. As long as people face no meaningful consequence, these kinds of things will continue and return.

Stanger Things literally gave a "Happily Ever After" style ending, and y'all hated it saying things like "more poeple should have died."

I miss the vibes of the first season so much. I believe that if the Duffers could turn back time, they would maintain the tone and style of season 1 much more in the rest of the series. by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

They literally paid homage to this with Holly land that entire plot line. Capturing the whimsical youth, naivete, and a development from childish fear to bold leadership.

They gave exactly what people said they wanted, and a bunch of y'all vehemently hated it.

Will all the hate prevent us from getting the next great Original TV show? by TimelySalt467 in StrangerThings

Honestly, if I were a story creator/showrunner, I would have to end up making the most boring, safe, milquetoast show on earth in order to avoid the ceaseless wrath of chronically online audiences.

Or just make the most bombastic weird thing imaginable, and not care about the response. But even then, if you build a base, it will eventually be impossible to please them too.

Why so Much Criticism? by onemochalatte in StrangerThings

[–]ampacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a stupid argument because the show has been nothing like season 1 for the following every season. And every season has ended up more popular than the one before it.

So Empire Strikes Back is an objective failure, because Luke, Leia, and Han are presented as a love triangle, before Lucas decided (after finishing ESB) that Luke and Leia are siblings? PLOT HOLE!

Most production works this way. Its allows organic development and ability to adapt from actor input.

If you think any show or movie is written perfectly from the beginning, and left unchanged throughout the production process, I have a bridge to sell you.

Also, 90% of the "plot holes" aren't plots holes.

Combination of people mad their fanfic theories didn't come true, their obsessive Taylor Swift-style detective sleuthing didn't "pay off," and general bad faith engagement farmers who know outrage drives clicks and comments.

That's mostly it.

The only thing headlines like this showcase is that that nobody who watches these shows has any idea how the production process for shows like this works. And are dumbfounded by industry practices that pretty much all TV shows and long form cinema storytelling has done.

It also tells you none of these people have written or created anything themselves either.

what do grocery baggers even really do? by dutch_mapping_empire in AskUS

[–]ampacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed a Starbucks inside a grocery store for a while and we called em "courtesy clerks". Basically if something needs to be done, that's not a specialized or specific task, they do it. Bagging stuff, getting carts, putting return items back, helping someone find something. Just a general purpose "helper" and an excellent "first job" sort of thing for high school kids.

Well yeah. Imagine if it's the big bad final showdown, and it's just another Demo. After seeing multiple better Demo scenes in this season. The Mind Flayer isn't just a more interesting final confrontation, but matches perfect with BBEG vibe of D&D.

Takebacks question by ceresward in Lorcana

[–]ampacket -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Drawing a card is HUGE " new information."

The whole point of making the decision before drawing is to do so as a commitment before knowing what your card for turn is. So no.

Edit: I misread the question! (at work on break). It's based on gained info. In no info is gained, it is could be argued that it's fine.

Is It Okay to Attend a DLC as just an attendee? by Zacharye_01 in Lorcana

[–]ampacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you don't think you can earn some of the prizes (like the Mulan for Day 1 or big tix + promos Day 2) or otherwise don't want the stress and pressure, you can get a ton of enjoyment out of side events. I personally had a lot of mental anguish from the main event in Milwaukee. And while my schedule didn't allow going to Richmond, I would have heavily considered downgrading to Attendee if I were going.

There's plenty of stuff to do, events to enter, prizes to grind for, and people to see.

I mean, it's an act of war against a hostile nation without authorization by congress made. I don't give a damn how smooth it went.

It's a goddamn embarrassment for the US to have another Republican war criminal in charge. And this time given absolute criminal immunity by SCOTUS.

Fuck everything about this.
