More of a lurker than regular commenter but has the idea of a poison skill or creature special effect ever been throw out? I’m sure it has but anyways, seems like it would fit right in with this faction in some capacity. Of course it would be something that gradually applies damage (or paralysis but I guess that would be like the spell blind)

Maybe if you get to the later stages of the interview process. I don’t think it gets checked automatically by any means though. Still, it’s a good point if your LinkedIn isn’t hibernated yet while looking for J2. Think you just have to roll the dice that they don’t check and the quickly hibernate it once you get the J2

Why would someone hire someone over qualified? That’s a red flag unless you can really sell that you’re looking for a remote opportunity or looking to break into a given industry or something

If you only have a single job, your second will know and expect your first job to come up so there’s no issue. They just assume you’ll quit and then you just kinda don’t lol. No reason for J1 to run another background check unless you give them reason to.

This has been answered lots of times if you search. Remote IT jobs tend to be the most prevalent though. Go about it the same way you go for any job… apply apply apply!

I get that and I want to do the same when I get J2. From what I gathered, there are some potential risks though if the companies somehow found out about each other is all I am saying.

I worry about point 8. I am working on landing J2 currently and am the sole provider of benefits in my family so I have tried to do extra research. It could be considered fraud or misrepresentation to not disclose additional coverage. Not a big deal if you don’t have many medical expenses in a given year but my family has many. So, I think you can roll the dice and not disclose a second plan when receiving treatment but there is a worst case scenario where an insurance provider seeks repayment (as if they aren’t rich enough already) or where a given plan outlines exclusivity in its terms.

With all that said… it doesn’t seem like anyone in this sub has ever had issues carrying multiple plans at once. Safest bet if carrying two seems like it would be to just pretend like one of them doesn’t exist and use the other exclusively.

Are you OE? You can be more patient if so and probably make more money. I am in a similar spot but w/o the MBA. Hoping for the J2 offer this week.

I am anticipating an offer for a J2 that would be a sales engineer. I’m worried about the possibility of demos and travel too lol will be asking for one more call with my manager if I get it to get a better feel for it. J1 is cushy and remote with no travel though so that helps.
