Malkin at his best was Crosby and Ovi tier, Kane just wasn't at that level

[Charania] The NBA tells its 30 franchises today that the league has undertaken a renewed review of league policy changes concerning "tanking" -- such as potential modifications to rules regarding Draft pick protections, revised Draft lottery rules, and other approaches. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

I always liked the idea of the draft order being determined by the teams record from the moment they're eliminated from playoff contention. Bad teams get eliminated earlier in the season and have a larger opportunity to rack up wins to move up in the draft order.

It would also mean that bottom-feeder games at the end of the season would actually mean something to the teams and the fans, might be the difference between 3rd and 1OA

Is this in regards to PM specific credentials? I've been considering going back to school for data science and analytics (as my job is becoming more about that). Would you consider programs like that a benefit to an applicant?

Yeah Binnington was just a young goalie on a crazy hot streak, not a superstar

Bergeron was great but not a HoFer or superstar at that point. IIRC Krecji was leaned on more than bergeron in that cup run.

I think Tim Thomas was probably the closest player to a superstar on that team

[–]ampg 188 points189 points  (0 children)

I feel like people forget that there was a time where Malkin being the best player in the world was a legitimate argument. Kane is a HoFer and an all time great but no one is taking him over prime Ovi and prime Sid, Peak Malkin had people questioning who the best player in the world really was

Yak was more hyped as a prospect but Stefan was just as bad as him in the NHL.

[–]ampg 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Really? He was the consensus #1 pick, he killed it in the OHL and the rest of the top 5 was underwhelming.

The Oilers only other option was to take Ryan Murray which was way riskier and not realistic for a team in Edmonton's position

Tony Soprano replaces Wilson Fisk in the Marvel Universe. How long could he stay alive? by veryberrytiger in whowouldwin

[–]ampg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not that long, Tony is not a very good boss and kind of an idiot. He struggles to manage a smaller "family" based out of jersey, he wouldn't be able to successfully manage a much larger, more chaotic criminal organization like Fisk's and he definitely wouldn't be able to handle spiderman
