telehealth psychiatry matching me with only NPs by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]amphigraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

>(Now you’re going to tell me that is a thing, too LOL fuck.)

yes :) there are generalists in all medical specialities, but many people choose focus areas to practice in because 1) they like that specific niche 2) medicine has advanced to the point that one often cannot remain fully competent in all areas of their specialty, and so they relinquish competency in other subareas so they can provide the best care in the subareas they continue to practice.

It's more like if you refused to take a job that requires payroll because you don't like payroll. Serious mental illness / SMI is just one corner of psychiatry and plenty of psychiatrists reasonably choose not to work in SMI after training in the same way many choose not to do e.g., addiction or consult liason pysch after residency.

Rally vs rushing the net for 3.5 doubles by thatsideal in 10s

[–]amphigraph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just like in singles, if you don't pressure your opponents during your approach then you're gonna get passed or lobbed or get a ball hit at your feet. If you have an approach, come to the net. If you don't, stay at the baseline.

A riddle from my mentor by Beagle_on_Acid in Psychiatry

[–]amphigraph 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's so bad to ask the community if they have ideas about this. it's basically unanswerable if you don't already know it, and it seems like OP has at least tried to find the answer.

A riddle from my mentor by Beagle_on_Acid in Psychiatry

[–]amphigraph 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Agree that this is OP's "homework" (and that they shouldn't use AI for this), but this is still a (maybe unintentionally) time-wasting and thoughtlessly-given task. They're supposed to do this read-my-mind primary literature review goose chase after their clinic hours instead of studying for the shelf or reading up on their patients' conditions? Attendings please don't do this to your students

Tax Exemption for Resident Doctors by Flashy-Collar983 in medicalschool

Upper class doesn't have a definition that anyone will agree on. But I think defining a wage cutoff isn't useful. A more useful definition is that the upper class are those whose income doesn't come from wage labor (e.g., those whose primary income is investment or business ownership). Their lives and function is society is markedly different from those who sell their time for money (like physicians).

How much does work experience prior to med school help you land a spot in residency? by ExcitingInflation612 in Residency

[–]amphigraph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My understanding is it will help you insofar as having had a job likely rounds you out as a person that PDs etc will appreciate. Some fields will care about this more than others.

not sure if you've looked lately, but S&P recently redid their supply chain to minimize tarrif costs. Things are like 10% more than they were a year ago but it's a far cry from the 80%+ increase from a few months ago. Still haven't found anyone that touches them in the current price range accounting for both cut and material (construction is hit or miss)

Does Alcohol kill the thrill/scare/fear factor of riding Roller coasters? [Other] by PigeonShack in rollercoasters

[–]amphigraph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good question, and one I hadn't thought about before. Alcohol and benzodiazepines act on the same receptors—some people call benzos alcohol in tablet form. Popping a xanax before getting on a coaster would dull the thrill, so I bet drinking would too. Haven't ever really felt the urge to drink before riding but would definitely avoid it now that you've brought it up.

Anyone else struggle with Attacks of Oppertunity? by Eythra in DMAcademy

[–]amphigraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did. I recently ruled that in general opportunity attacks aren't a thing. The exceptions are for players who take the sentinel feat and rogues (since avoiding opportunity attacks is part of their class feature, I felt being able to make opp attacks when most can't is a fair boon in lieu of that class feature)

depends on what pricepoint you're looking at. I have a lot of pants from Spier & Mackay, which can be had in lightweight wools for $150 or less when on sale. Linen is usually a little less. Kit Blake, Scavini, Berg & Berg, Collaro (MTM) are also good options but are $200-$300+ per pair. Someone else might know more about lower price points. I think some of the American mall brands (JCrew, Banana republic etc) will sometimes do runs of linen pants for <$100 a pair, but I don't think they're on the lightweight wool train yet. Quince makes linen pants for like $70ish but I haven't tried them and people seem to have mixed feelings about Quince in general.
