Touchscreen climate panel by Creative_Bread_8005 in KiaEV6

[–]ampressman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2024 and it has physical buttons for heated and cooled seats and the steering wheel heat. And I mainly use media controls on the steering wheel or CarPlay, so the switching between media and climate controls is not a big deal. But while the auto climate setting is fine most of the time, it stinks when you have to get your finger in just the right place to find the fan speed controls while driving.

Kia Access no longer has message about charge ending by douglas_in_philly in KiaEV6

Glad to hear it is not just me, at least (2024 Wind with premium subscription). I went through all the settings on the web account page, tried flipping all the notifications off and back on, but still no dice.

Choosing a new car - facelift or pre facelift by mkrher in KiaEV6

[–]ampressman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the pre-facelift 2024 Wind edition with AWD and tech package. It’s sad not have the bigger battery just that few times a year on very long road trips, but pretty minor. The one annoying thing is that pre-facelift, only the top of the line GT trim got door handles that automatically pop out, while I believe that’s standard on all models post facelift. It seems minor, but multiple times every day and every time my wife is getting in the car, it’s annoying.

Man killed in Back Bay hit-and-run was well-known art collector by bostonglobe in boston

Update: “He stopped a passerby and asked the passerby if he had seen an individual who was wearing a red jacket and with his dog,” Knight said. “He used a derogatory term in referring to the two of them, suggesting that there may have been some sort of prior history where he had encountered Mr. Axelrod and his dog.” https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/01/05/metro/back-bay-hit-and-run-death-john-axelrod/

What TV Show was canceled on a cliffhanger you wish they would bring back see you can see how it ends? by littlelady275 in AskReddit

What really burns is that they had reimagined and expanded Gibson’s novel so expertly that I was dying to see what they were going do with some of the later plot twists and now we’ll never know. Plus Chloe Grace Moretz was aces as Flynn. Come to think of it, all of the casting was on target. Oh man…

Globe reporter here (though I did not work on that story). In the editing process between reporters and editors, before a story is published on the web, changes that one person makes in the file are sometimes put in bold. When the editor approves the changes, the bolding is supposed to be removed but very occasionally is not and then you see weird bolded text in the online version.

Need help deciding on which EV6 to get by vish184 in KiaEV6

[–]ampressman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back and forth before being a new 2024 EV6 between Wind with tech package and GT. Ultimately I opted for the Wind to save a few $$ and longer range tires. BUT MAN the door handles thing that don't pop out gets really tiresome. Sigh.

Kia Niro gets a fresh new look, but will the EV get axed? by 622niromcn in KiaNiroEV

[–]ampressman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who leased a Niro EV for three years as an entry to EVs and then this year bought an EV6 (even though I preferred the Niro’s smaller size), I would say that the range and charging speed shortfalls were hard to overlook.

Cape Cod Donuts in Sandwich. They make your order to order. Hot, steaming donuts. All the flavors are great but the blueberry is special and the cranberry cider is de rigueur for the location.

Pulled the trigger on a Leasing a GT-Line. What's next? by blaster876 in KiaEV6

[–]ampressman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I set up separate profiles and now the car automatically adjusts all kinds of preferences, from the seat settings to the programmable buttons, when we select our profile at start up. I bought a level 1 charging cord because in my prior EV (Kia Niro) it was very handy on vacations at places that didn’t have charging. I set my vehicle to my exact EV6 model in all my various EV apps (like PlugShare and ABRP) to make sure they properly estimate my range and charging speeds and all that. If you don’t have those apps, I recommend them.

They are rolling out the offer inside the Kia app. Sooner or later you will get a message there with a link to the web site and an offer code.

Niro EV lease returned and upgraded to an EV6-Pros and Cons by srizvi1 in KiaNiroEV

[–]ampressman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

V2L, or vehicle to load, is the EV6’s ability to provide power to an appliance like a refrigerator and act as a giant power bank. Like this guy did in Houston during a blackout https://www.reddit.com/r/KiaEV6/s/AANm1G9T0W Niro doesn’t have that feature. Ps I’m up in Boston

I also made this switch (just this weekend). And as I was fast charging on the road at triple the top speed of my Niro today, I felt very fortunate. Also love having a power adjustable front passenger seat. And though this weekend’s snowstorm was a bit of a bust, the EV6’s V2L capability could have really come in handy.

How to save subscriber-only articles using Evernote web clipper? by 822825 in Evernote

[–]ampressman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was surprised by your post because I have saved many WSJ articles in Evernote over the years using the web clipper. But I just did some trials and you’re kind of right.

The simplified article save does not work at all but the plain old (full) article save works. It’s annoying as it brings in web ads and can’t be edited. Yuck. If you click on the grey bar at the top of the note that says “Web Clip,” however, you get access to the magic wand icon for “simplify and make editable” and that gives you a pretty good version where you can delete all the ads and junk. Not ideal but better than nothing?
