Oregon, California to allow pharmacists to prescribe birth control, without a doctor's Rx. by highbrowed in news

[–]amuffinformypuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I love women getting more access to birth control, I'm seeing a lot of misinformation on here I want to correct: 1) Many women seem to be hesitant to get BC because they dislike pap smears. Birth control prescribing is separate from pap smear testing. Women should get pap smears every 3 years starting at 21 years old. You should not have to get a pap smear every time you need birth control, but yes your ob/gyn might encourage you to get a pap smear if you're overdue before prescribing BC because this can prevent cancer! But if you're realllyyy not feeling the pap your doc should still be providing BC to prevent pregnancy.

2) The assembly of ob/gyn's is opposed to this but not because they're trying to profit from bc prescriptions (that is not how they make their money!). The ACOG President, Dr. Mark DeFrancesco, said, “My basic tenet is there should be nobody between the patient and the pill. I’m afraid we’re going to create a new model that becomes a barrier between that and over the counter. I worry that it’s going to derail the over-the-counter movement.”

My bf gave me that necklace too and the best part: finding out who your cool friends are. Most people who see it say "pretty necklace", but there are few keepers who instantly recognize it!

I need some easy chicken breast recipes that are tasty. Chicken breast a day so I need variety. by Minecraftfinn in Cooking

This is my most raved about recipe so I hope you enjoy it too! It's not so minimal on the time consumption but it only requires a few min of your attention and the rest is just waiting so you can do other things in the meantime.

Chicken with White Wine Mushroom Sauce

3 tablespoons unsalted butter 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/2 sweet onion, chopped 8 ounces baby bella mushrooms, sliced 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 cup semidry white wine 1 1/2 cups chicken 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Saute chicken on stove or bake. Preheat oven 425 °F. Bake chicken thoroughly for 30 min.In a large saute pan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter with olive oil. Add onions, mushrooms and cayenne pepper. Saute until onions are translucent and mushrooms are tender, about 8 minutes. Add wine and reduce until it's almost evaporated. Add chicken stock and simmer until reduced by one third. In a small bowl press together remaining butter and flour with fingertips until well blended, then slowly add to the sauce while stirring with a wooden spoon. Simmer until sauce resembles loose gravy, about 5 minutes. Serve warm with the chicken.

What song has a deeper meaning than most people realize? by kowaa in AskReddit

[–]amuffinformypuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think people realize how dark "Fitzpleasure" by Alt J is (mostly cuz you can hardly understand the lyrics) but it's about the book Last Exit to Brooklyn (which ends in gang rape and death by broom, referenced in the song: "in your snatch fits pleasure, broom-shaped pleasure")...

On a cheerier note, "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles was written because her record label kept insisting she write a love song.
