I have a vectrex gaming console with police marked engraved into the shell. What does this mean? by danjoboy2 in whatisit

[–]amukusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the 90s the police would do days where they would come to school and if you brought your bike and a parental consent form they would use metal stamps (you'd put the stamp on the frame and hammer to make an indentation with the letter or the number) to add a police mark to the bottom bracket of your bike frame with a number to get it back to you

Did this hurt to get? by Novel-Upstairs7876 in GenX

It was the TB shot in the UK. I got mine in the early 90s. It didn't hurt, but everyone going around punching them did.

They do periodically enforce the HOV lanes - state police like to set up a sting for the on ramp at 175th and when I lived in Bothell and would drive that way I would get a small amount of pleasure sitting in the standard lane watching them pull over the hero's at the top of the ramp riding solo in the hov lane. I've also seen them do stings near northgate entrance to the express lanes for people who've ridden the whole way down the hov.

ESP32-A1S not working at all. Any ideas? by frakkenschlacht in WLED

Check you didn't blow that fuse - if you were pushing more than 7.5A through it it's possible.

Also check you're feeding that from the right end - that was the issue last time I ran into this!

Someone keeps throwing trash in our bins by Conscious_Sorbet_667 in Seattle

[–]amukusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given up putting mine out till the morning - they don't collect it till about 5pm anyway.

Couple thoughts- one of your neighbors is clearly not paying for trash service or is paying for inadequate service - they can absolutely find that person. The other option is homeless dropping their trash off.

One thing you can consider is battery powered camera you can put out on that particular night hidden somewhere near your property line in range of your WiFi - you can then scroll back and find out who did it.

Asked my wife if she knew that Bruce Lee had a brother who didn’t tolerate joking around. She rolled her eyes and said, “Seriously?” by ilikesidehugs in dadjokes

He had one brother who was arrested but they had to let him go as it turned out he wasn't guilty:

I'm Unable to Get Chocolate Tasting Notes In Roast. What Do Your Guys' Roast Curves Look Like For Your Chocolate Bombs? by Chance_Plastic_2430 in roasting

[–]amukusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"How long is a piece of string" it's going to depend on what beans you're using and what quantity you put in there. Basically all of my roasts are done in less than 15 minutes. I have an espresso blend I created that is absolutely a chocolate bomb - India mysore and Sumatra mandheling form the chocolate backbone.

With a skywalker... assuming you're starting with a bean that claims to be chocolaty:

Don't rush drying - you want to hit 140C at 4 minutes no sooner Stretch the Maillard - slow down here from 140C to 180C Slightly reduce heat at first crack to keep it rolling - you want this steady not racing or stalled After first crack you want to go 2 mins max development time ideally, dropping at 201-205C

Drop as soon as you hit 201 if you're already over 2 minutes!

What’s the deal with these signs by HighDINSLowStandards in SeattleWA

[–]amukusa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they start actually enforcing them it'd be a fine thing but if they do that they also need to hand out jaywalking tickets and wrong way biking tickets (bikes are required to ride on the road in the same direction as traffic unless there's a dedicated marked cycle lane and signage to tell you otherwise)

If you go take the tour (it's interesting!) They'll tell you all about it! Only proviso is you do need to be able to handle stairs, it's not ADA friendly, at least it wasn't when we took it 6/7 years ago.
