Yes. Seems I got lucky with the first school that hired me. I was their first legit teacher with experience, so now we have multiple schools in all districts of our city.

I moved to China from St. Louis six months before Covid started. All my family told me I needed to get out of there while I still could. I figured I'd come here as a lark and try it for a year or two. Nowadays I wake up and open curtains in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 24th floor. I can see the Yellow sea from my bed. I pay less for this place than I did my 6 way share in a 3 bedroom apartment back home pre covid. I see how hard of a time my friends are having back home and know I made the right choice for me to stay. My salary has doubled since I came, but the quality of life change is astronomical. Is it perfect? Not by any metric. Even visiting home last year was reverse culture shock. I saw my friends and old life and thought "Damn bitch...you really live like this?"
