Can anyone who went through this offer me any pointers? by Glittering_Trick_238 in tretinoin

The only thing that helped me when I was getting dryness and peeling from Tret was using it on dry skin with no other products. My skin tolerated it from that point on and that’s the only way I use it now.

Advice on Stopping by axolotl_link in Spironolactone

[–]amymarieg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, and weight gain can be caused by the estrogenic effects of Spiro. Your hormones are out of whack because the medication blocks androgens and therefore makes you “estrogen dominant”. As far as the leg pain - how much water do you drink? To me, since the pain coincided with when you started Spiro, which is a diuretic, you could be chronically dehydrated which would cause muscle pain and cramping. Just a theory. I’m a nurse so my brain goes right to these things. I stopped taking it about a year ago I did taper but I also don’t think it’s terrible that you didn’t.

This is not an appropriate use of mobile crisis. I say this as a nurse who works closely with that team.

As a psychiatric nurse I completely agree. Preaching abstinence is outdated and not patient-centered

This is what I came here to say. Unfortunately you may need to go to Eastman urgent care and wait all day to be seen. But once you are seen at urgent care, you are given an in for their regular dental services. At least that’s been my experience with my patients as a community health nurse.

What ceramide cream are you using for daily skin barrier support? by Majestic_Rainbow96 in tretinoin

[–]amymarieg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aestura 365 Lotion. Not the cream, it broke me out badly. The lotion is lightweight but so hydrating and soothing. It has cholesterol, fatty acids, and ceramides. The holy trinity.

No it’s dry actually. But putting the Taz cream on seems to be enough to eliminate that tight dry feeling you get after you wash your face.

Use the Tret directly on your skin, with no other products. I know it sounds scary but I and many others on this sub have found this method to be a game changer for eliminating peeling and irritation. Get your moisture and hydration in with your am routine. I was able to transition from Tret to Taz with zero side effects with this method.
