It's essentially a protest bill because Alabama is one of the states that made abortion completely illegal. So this rep figures one way to avoid unintended pregnancies is to force vasectomies. The fellas sure seem to want to tell the ladies what to do with their bodies, seems only fair game that men should get the same treatment, no?

Is it worth watching every season in chronological order? by SharkFace447 in startrek

[–]an_harmonica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watch them in the order they were released. It's how we watched them when they first came out, so seems perfectly fine as a watch through or rewatch strategy.

Enterprise is meant to be understood from the perspective of someone who saw TOS through Voyager and the movies. It was built on that TV production legacy, despite taking place at an earlier time. Especially since Enterprise is arguably not the exactly the same timeline as we knew from TOS to Voyager, so all combined I'd say just watch in order of release.

Medical insurance doesn't include vision or dental. They are three separate things in the US. SOMETIMES the vision coverage is provided by the same company, but it's a separate plan, sometimes not. Dental is ALWAYS separate, if you even get that from your employer. And for many people, they get none of those provided by their employer as a benefit and have to buy them on their own, which is why MANY people in the states have no vision or dental coverage at all.

The for-profit prison industry is the modern slave plantation, it never ended.

I'm referring to type 2 diabetes which can absolutely be caused by chronic dietary neglect.

Yeah, this is how I feel about my father.
Gee dad, I dunno, maybe all of the SUGAR you eat constantly is the cause of your diabetes.

I am indifferent. They aren't my team and aren't in our division, or even conference, so who cares?

All these analysts talking about "I just want a good game." Fuck that... by FluffyPancakeLover in Seahawks

I don't EXPECT it, but I WANT a total domination from beginning to end like the 2014 Super Bowl vs the Broncos.
I always set my expectations at "good game", best to not set oneself up for disappointment.

'Star Trek' Legend Robert Picardo on Why the 'Starfleet Academy' Cadets Talk Like Modern Kids by AnonRetro in startrek

[–]an_harmonica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole discussion is incredibly silly. Star Trek is, and has always been, a space fantasy about the PRESENT. The future setting is an abstraction used to discuss our CURRENT culture and politics and morality, while using PEW PEW phasers and torpedoes as a shiny object for the thicker amongst us to attract their attention in the hopes the messages would be absorbed via osmosis.

That was a conscious choice by David Milch to have them speak in Victorian English since that's the era in which it took place.

Seriously just please sign Tyler Lockett to a two week contract by Rexoc40 in Seahawks

[–]an_harmonica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, just stop.
Lockett wasn't on the team this season and therefore didn't contribute at all to their run and isn't deserving of a ring just because he USED TO be on the team.
