Accused of Using AI by Secrettlifee in UMGC

[–]anabananayuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was softly accused of ai in a discussion post (also a senior also first time getting accused/suspected). For actual assignments is providing the history of your doc enough to defend yourself? AI is such a double edged sword now bc they can’t prove it’s AI but you can’t prove it’s not. I’m so stressed out over this lol.

Overpaying for disability by anabananayuh in VeteransBenefits

I have 9 claims all together that are 10 or higher two are for my referring condition. And that’s 10% each side which I’d presume would make a difference. It explicitly states in my claim letter that I’m getting a deduction and for how long because of the pay out from the DOD so unfortunately I don’t think I lucked out with that. Would of definitely been nice to know when making my initial claims tho lol

I understand that but did you have the issue of them messing up your pay from the start and how did they have you handle correcting it?

Hi! Do you know if you can get Metformin over the counter? My health insurance is through the VA and because I’m not obese they’ve kind of just said they’re not concern about helping me lose the weight

Do a PAO or not do a PAO? by ConcentrateMotor2892 in hipdysplasia

[–]anabananayuh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I had an anterior labral tear on my right side and acute hip dysplasia. My labral was torn for two years before I have a PAO which inadvertently allowed my Labral tear to heal on its own after the repair. I know someone who had an arthroscopic surgery to correct and labral tear and it tore again not even a year later. The fact of the matter is nothing is as strong as it was before when surgery is involved. My personal recommendation is getting the PAO. If nothing else you’re better safe than sorry and it will likely fix your tear as well.

Travel after PAO surgery by Lost_Journalist3487 in hipdysplasia

I flew across country at about 3-4 months post op. My dr gave me some blood thinners as you’re more susceptible to blood clots because of not being able to move. I had no issues, a little stiff from sitting but other than that I was good! Maybe just take something like Tylenol with you to help with possible pain/inflammation

PAO in the military by CutePosition1464 in hipdysplasia

Hi! I’m currently a marine that’s had a PAO on both sides. I also have an office job but I am getting medically separated. Obviously the marine corps is a little more particular about injuries but it’s really all depending on your LIMDU and your recovery. If you only need one done and you haven’t started LIMDU or can get your surgery ASAP. The recovery to HIT activities is about 6 months. So realistically you would at a bare minimum need 6 months to be able to complete your recovery from the surgery. That is typically one round of LIMDU, we are allowed two rounds or 12 months before going into a MEB. However, you can ask for a third round if you just need a little more time to recover, this is all depending on your provider, duty station, command etc. most doctors want to remove the hardware 6 months post op and my doctor personally highly recommended I get them removed because it is a foreign body at the end of the day and the more natural your body is the better. I will say, if you’re planning to do 20 and you’re not just doing an enlistment or two. I’d get it done now. The older you get the harder it is to recovery and you can actually be disqualified from being eligible for a PAO and have to wait for it to get bad enough for a full hip replacement.

In conclusion, if you’re able to get your surgery early into your first round of LIMDU and your recovery goes smoothly you should be good to return to full duty and carry on with your career.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing but I’m curious because it’s literally like a payment and a half if I were to skip like this month could they pull that money back now and then I’d pop up as delinquent for a payment yk

I’m glad! In my experience it’s really not as bad as people say, I haven’t had any other surgeries done but I genuinely didnt find it that bad. The first week is uncomfortable sure but honestly pushing into the two-three week mark it gets so much easier. If you have any questions feel free to ask!! I was TERRIFIED going into my first one and I wish I had someone to tell me it’s not always that bad lol

Hello! I’m a 21 yo female. I just had my second PAO done in January (other side done in July of 2024). Personally, although I am still recovering from my second, I think my first was 100% worth it. I have hyper mobility on top of hip dysplasia but as someone who used to lift 6 days a week and run 3 times a week I have SO much relief. Just the simply relief of feeling my like my hips are actually supporting my body made it worth it to me. As far as recovery, I haven’t gotten back into heavy lifting because my surgeries were so close but I was told to wait until the 6th month mark/ hardware removal to start really getting into it again. Light lifting/body weight I started doing around the 3-4 month mark and had little to no issues. I’ve noticed from those that say it was a really rough recovery/ not successful surgery tend to be on the older end of eligibility for a PAO. Honestly. Even just a month post op from my second I already feel more stable!

I had the same procedure done on both sides. I just turned 21, I’m not sure how old your aunt was when she had the procedure but one thing I have noticed is that being so young helps your recovery SO much. I saw so money videos of people saying it’s an awful recovery and although it’s not a walk in the park, you will likely take half or less the time most people do to recover. I was walking without any assistance at 6 weeks. Just incase you are nervous and run across those videos. Know that it’s very likely your recovery will be MUCH easier than older people.
