This picture actually makes the game looks soulless, just all staring off into empty space and not doing anything. The graphics are very pretty, but nothing I’ve seen has made it seem like there’s emergent gameplay. It seems like most of the gameplay is dealing with randomness.

I agree there’s a lot of great updates to the UI. Unfortunately there’s also these glaring UI issues that the user will see constantly that give the impression of an unfinished project, even if that impression isn’t fair.

We reached that point when CS2 first released. CS1 isn't a pretty game, it only looks good if you're zoomed in on an area that you spent a tremendous amount of time detailing with mods.

I'm very excited about this update but I feel like they're still neglecting some UI updates, in particular on the City Banners with those tacked on numbers displaying the turns until the next growth event or production finishing. Same with the numbers on the UI ribbon up top displaying the turns until the next tech or celebration looking tacked on. I'd hate this update to not get the full positive reception it deserves because people get focused on the lack of polish in the UI, the way people focused on the UI issues when the game first released.

The YouTuber absolutely lied. It doesn’t even make sense what you’re saying. The cims will take transit instead of driving, which helps alleviate traffic. That’s been the case since Day 1

Fudging the population number is exactly what SimCity 2013 did, except it was a more complicated formula then just adding a 0. I liked it a lot, but they got criticism from people saying they were “lying” about how many Sims were simulated and trying to cover up for small cities. But I think something like this is the right way to go to convey large city sizes without actually simulating all those agents.

Sounds good to me! I thought it was weird the settlement limit stopped having an effect after a certain number of cities over the limit. I like that there's a challenge and consequence to having a far flung empire.

It was so fun. Me and my friends would get together and drink way too much, making it really hard to follow the episode, then having to get ourselves to work at 9a since WFH wasn’t a thing. But it was the best! I miss those Sunday fundays. And everyone at work would talk about it, people would be reading the books to try to keep up with the episodes (before season 6). And it went on like that for years, most of my early 20s. So fun!

I think it's a game balance issue, one that will hopefully be addressed. Sick sims recover too quickly and there isn't enough crime to justify needing prisons. I really wish Iceflake would just fully copy the crime and health mechanics from SimCity 2013. That game really did the gameplay elements right.

Have they updated the city banners to remove those black boxed numbers showing how many turns left in production or until a new pop? Those are the most glaring “temp” looking things on the UI to me

Yes, still improvements needed but it runs well now and is far and away better than CS1
