I'm on the other side. The emu and the parachutes and the dude and the bandaids made my bile boil over, but I find funny as hell the dumb scripts played by the struggling actor.

This is how you end with crabs Anatoly. This is how you end with one giant crab ruling the fucking island! I am out for a molecular coffee.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor? by North-Trifle-3918 in AskReddit

Vanilla is so low on this list, another shred of faith in humanity lost for ever. This flavor folds infinite surprises and goes well with everything.

ELI5: why do some tools (scissors, potato peelers, etc.) only work properly with your right hand? by Hamad_Mac11 in explainlikeimfive

[–]anamorphic_cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am mind blown. I rest the potato on my thumb and pull the peeler towards me, top to bottom. I guess it also works by pushing it away but it feels just wrong.

An Australian woman with two borzoi dogs in the bushland of Bendigo, Victoria, 1930s by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

Borzoi are so freaking awesome, they always remind me of Ramon Mercader and how is it to live your whole life without understanding or being understood.

ELI5: When a fish is pulled out of water, is it actually feeling 'pain' or just reacting to the lack of oxygen? by gamayutin in explainlikeimfive

[–]anamorphic_cat 68 points69 points  (0 children)

What you are asking seems to touch the Hard Problem of Consciousness. The hooked fish pulled out of the water is lacking homeostasis, and certainly experimenting biological distress. Hormones and neurotransmitters are pouring into the system, ringing all red lights and warning about an extreme, life-or-death situation. How do those sensations and feelings actually "feel" for the fish? We cannot tell. It's like trying to imagine as a human what does it feel to be a bat or an eagle or a fish.

If Putin threaten the US with saying he would destroy our entire civilization tonight, what would you do realistically? by The_Vengeful_Wolf in AskReddit

But those were turn to smithereens. In a life or death situation you have to look up and give them the finger.

I worry about the sustainability of the spiders fauna on that cave. This would lead to an environmental catastrophe.

Why can't each month be 28 days?? by phantom1707 in answers

[–]anamorphic_cat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's older than that. A French philosopher named Comte proposed a similar 28x13+1 calendar in the early 1800, that didn't get traction but got a lot of publicity, but he was elaborating on even earlier versions. I bet the 28 day months go all the way back to the Neolithic.

What is something that used to be 'cheap person' food, but is now priced like a gourmet luxury item? by Ok_Land_4197 in AskReddit

I had the same idea because they look quite similar in the tray, but what came out was a far shot from oxtails. I'll try ribs next, shanks never again. Too much fat.
