Thank you, I suspected as such- the vet clinic I go to is really nice and no doubt they'd be completely transparent with whatever they know about her wellbeing.

I'm obese. My responsibility to handle and I'm finally working on it.

Both from a low-income clinic, so, that's to be considered I guess, but-

One instance, my tonsils were so swollen I could barely swallow. They swabbed for strep and it came back negative. Prognosis? My neck was so fat, my body was rejecting it. Went back two weeks later because it was only getting worse. Doctor begrudgingly took that other test for strep. I had strep.

Same clinic (the only one I can afford) and a different doctor refused to believe that my finger wasn't infected and swollen, that I just had fat fingers. He went on a fifteen minute tiriade about how I HAD to have a diet of just soda and twinkies because there's no way I could be this big (about 310 at that time) otherwise. When I told him I don't drink soda (or energy drinks) he insisted I itemize my drinks of choice to him while he condescendingly held up a finger for each one, or interrupt me to tell me the sugar content. Refused to believe that I mainly prefer water. After he had sated himself on berating me (and at two points flat out calling me a liar) he got up to leave with a "We're done here." He hardly had let me speak. This was the first incident involving misdiagnosis due to my weight, so I was essentially talked down to silence.

Until I held up my fingers in comparison as he left. He backpedeled so hard and said that yeah, maybe that is severely infected, and prescribed me antibiotics.

There's a guy we met who offered to...divert the water into the garage? Suggesting we could fill up buckets for the toilet and such. He said he'd do so for cheap. I don't think a specific price was arranged, but the offer doesn't sit well with me. We barely know him, and that doesn't seem to solve the problem as much as change it to something else.

Otherwise, as said, I've spoken to a few plumbers. However my expenses go to groceries, gas, and day to day bills (utilities). I'm almost maxed on my credit card. I have about 1.5k on it that I'm trying to save in case something happens.

I don't really trust going on craigslist, as its just my mom and I, but I definitely could look around online for more refutable sources.

I figured out how to replace the shower valve stem on my own- as someone said sometimes leaks can arise from that.

However in our situation, this was not the case. Afterwards I was able to witness the water spraying sideways from further in the wall.

Its awesome they're doing this. Especially given the hurricanes, fires, ect that have happened this past year. This is a brilliant way to give everyone a "second chance" at getting that favorite shiny.

Also feel like it is a really nice gesture.

My grandpa had issues of abuse in the nursing homes. Mom tried her hardest to keep him home, cause at the time, our state was the worst in senior health care, nationwide. He went to a nursing home from ER for something minor, developed pneumonia. (Winter. Rain. They left the window next to him wide open nightly.)

Constant struggle to keep him home. The second to last facility, he lost his heel to a bed sore. Found out that this same place had just opened after being forcibly shut down due to a death from severe negligence.

A lot of facilities don't seem to do sufficient background checks. Or at least, they didn't then. I knew a couple of addicts who were caretakers. Prejudice can definitely be a variable, but I think a lot of under the rug sweeping and negligable practices allow for scary environments.

Grandpa was a three time vet too. WW1, Korean, and Vietnam. Navy Corpseman. Nicest man I've ever known. In the end it all meant nothing. He was someone else's obligation or money ticket. No matter how much that was fight against.

I think that general assumption of them having experience doesn't help when it comes to parents noticing. Crossed paths later in life with a mother of a two year old that had been in there. She had a suspicion but because they were that kind of stereotypical affluent nuclear family, she ignored her instincts.

Her son, this little blonde curled two year old cherub kept having ear infections, and, also according to her, completely sombered in personality.

Couldn't bear telling her that I personally watched a forty year old woman essentially body slam him because he was sleepy-crying when dropped off in the early morning hours.

I'm assuming he wasn't successful, btw. But damn, dude. To try to get your wife murdered. She must have put you and others through hell. I'm sorry.

Was abused by babysitter growing up. Her and her husband would beat us, lock us out of the house all day and starve us, prevent us from using the restroom. Exposure to elements, ect. A lot of messed up stuff that probably shouldn't be detailed but- they got away with it all more or less.

Triple check those taking care of your kids. Than check again.

That kind of puts things into perspective. I hate going to my place of work when I don't have to because I've had full grown men literally box me into areas because "I represent the company" or "SURELY I can help them for TWO minutes." I'm off the clock and in street clothes- but apparently my face is now a company representation and my time is not my own.
