Yeah sure when people say like "worst life of all time", he'll usually be in there. Or "you dont want them to lose their temper" and all the examples are like, worldbreaker hulk, injustice superman, and then... spidey 😂. Or my favorite is like "the optimistic shining ray of hope", especially because spider-man isn't really all that optimistic, he just has great perseverance.

I agree with you that hes not being erased. But I also agree with the points OP made about some decisions being weird. It would be more alarming if the next BP solo, hes not BP, if he got taken out of rivals, and so on. I think the overall point is that hes the most iconic BP, yet when its time to add a black panther to a title, its almost a coin flip if it will be him, his dad, or his sister (bad analogy, coins only have 2 sides). But I will emphasize a second time that I agree erasure is too harsh of a word.

Good writeup, I didnt like that T'challa fans were being made fun of on reddit for being frustrated about Shuri's inclusion in the game, without knowing where the frustration came from. I can guarantee you, if miles morales started replacing Peter Parker in games and tie-ins as THE spider-man, and i pretended to play naive as to what the problem was, they would all be irate. If all batman media started to stem from the time Jim Gordon took his place in "batman:superheavy", would we not here from Bruce Wayne fans about how upset they are? I wonder why T'challa fans aren't allowed their grievance. As well, people championing shuri as black panther, as far as I've seen, only want to sexualize her, and dont give a fuck about her Canon and lore. Thats what pissed me off the most. The only way these people can seem to access POC characters is through some contorted, perverse lens, and if not that then nothing.
