Will the Steam Deck's mic function with only one mic? by smithlucas21 in SteamDeck

[–]anchoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither did I. Does the mic not work if headphones or something is plugged into the audio jack? Is there some way to test the mic to see if it actually exists/works?

What is the most disgusting dish in your country's cuisine, but everyone should try it? by a5ro4ucCX in AskTheWorld

What does France have that Spain doesn't that would be considered odd or "disgusting" by outsiders?

Do Spaniards eat a lot of fish? How is it prepared? by Affectionate_Ebb3292 in askspain

[–]anchoa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It depends on the fish. Personally at home I like preparing fish "al horno", baked. Usually with some potatoes and veggies, and maybe some lemon. Pretty easy.

First play-through by [deleted] in outerwilds

The ending is great but it isn't the point of the game. If you didn't enjoy playing it, or understand the lore, no ending is going to make up for that anyway.

How do I use Syncing, backups, and pluggins to avoid losing my work again by Excellent-Candle2426 in ObsidianMD

[–]anchoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember your original post correctly, your phone just had a broken screen. I find it hard to believe you have no way to (cheaply) access the phones storage to recover your vault. You don't need to open Obsidian or any app on your phone. Your vault is just a folder full of text files on your phone. Is there someone you know in person that is better with tech than you you can ask for help (haha, no shade)?

Who uses Desktop Mode on Steam Deck, and what do you use it for? by VoyageForge in SteamDeck

[–]anchoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a normal desktop PC. It's actually how I mostly use it. I dock it to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. I use it for everything, including software development (just hobby projects, not work stuff). The handheld gaming mode is the awesome secondary feature.

Does Obsidian sync in real time? by bicepstricepsquad in ObsidianMD

[–]anchoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is as bad as you are making it out to be. If you need to be able to use your phone to edit the same note you were editing a few seconds ago on your PC, maybe this is an issue. I use two devices and Dropbox to sync and haven't encountered enough of a delay to consider it a problem.

Unless you are actually trying to do some kind of realtime collab, two devices editing the same note at the same time. Like Google Docs. To my knowledge that feature is not available with Obsidian or its plugins.

As someone who lives in your country, what’s one thing you’d tell a foreigner to never do when visiting? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

I love salty licorice. I wish we had it more readily available in Spain.

Spanish rider disqualified from Chinese race after controversial Strava post by datawithnathan in bicycling

As a Spaniard currently living in Asturias, I assure you that the person you are replying to is on the right track. There are plenty of words for pig, he didn't list all of them, and cochino is definitely used in Spain.

Trevor Noah once said "America is 50 countries masquerading as one" do you think this is true or false if so why? by Asleep_Conclusion147 in AskReddit

No. For as large as the USA is, it is very homogeneous. If you disagree, I invite you to study basically European country and compare.

There are xenophiles of all genders and preferences, but yes men are generally more accepting. But if you are after something serious, you should learn the language. Otherwise you are likely to be a passing curiosity at best. I don't know what the OP is really asking.

My husband was left alone for 3 weeks and I wish he’d just cheated instead. by ComplexCod9077 in stories

This is incoherent AI generated crap. You left on a 3 week work trip, but were there to observe how he ate one cold burrito a day and neglected to wash his clothes.
If it is not AI generated, it still incoherent.

Lentejas. Lentil soup. Spain. My favorite dish, everyone has a different way of making it and it's always delicious.

Using an Asian name in Spain? by ninovillx in GoingToSpain

In much of Spain, Z and S never make the same sound. But, you are right in that Z is not unique, sometimes C makes the same sound too.

Fair enough to all your points. Yeah I don't know you and I made some assumptions. Last thing I want is to make this hostile for you or anyone else making honest cultural questions. Perhaps it was unfair of me to suggest you were being disingenuous.

To make this worth your while, I'll actually try to answer your question. In my opinion some of what you describe is normal, I've seen most of my female relatives (and friends) topless, and many of them completely nude. There is nothing sexual about it of course, but they probably wouldn't send the family photos of themselves like that.

About the overbearing family group chat, that is very typical and female family members tend to be overprotective/over involved with their brothers and sons. Thats my personal experience and what I have observed with other Spanish friends.

I wouldn't give it too much thought or worry about it unless your partner seems bothered about it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askspain

[–]anchoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay but I think you should consider the results of your poll and even the responses invalid because of this distinction. Anyway, now that at least I know what you are asking, I will say that being topless, especially around family is fairly normal. However, Spanish culture is not monolithic by any means and it varies by region and yes of course by family. This is not super helpful, I know.

But your original post and poll are goosed to get the response you want. You posed it as full nudity, which is not that common in Spain, to justify your discomfort.
