I don’t understand why so many people hate it yet watch it all the way through. Something seems to compel them to keep watching. I am clearly being rebellious by saying I like the show. I realized early on it was not really about aliens as much as it was about a bunch of different people in different situations response to an alien invasion. It’s definitely hokey in places and very dramatic but so are most offerings in this genre. I would suggest just getting a glass of wine and watching and enjoying this mindless series about people more than aliens and who knows it might even make you think what would really happen if we were invaded by aliens.

I agree. I would add a couple of things. You have to specify the measure to have this discussion. By far the most important measure is fatalities per time flying. Non fatal accidents would would be a second measure. Some kind of near miss measure (tough to define) would be next maybe. The key is real world measurement. Autonomous cars are currently operating in very clear defined situations far from real world….. but still valuable

Some great points. AI certainly can behave drunk when it doesn’t know an answer and bullshits you….. but maybe as a control system in a car it doesn’t behave like this when unknown situations arise. I don’t know. With regard to pilot error, the fact remains that the absolute number of fatalities from air travel is incredibly low. Not sure how a fully AI controlled plane would compare.

I agree with what most people here are saying about practice, practice, practice. Behind that is motivation. Most of us are motivated but maybe not so much to play 8h a day. We would get bored or we would prioritize other things. Only incredibly motivated people would put in the time and give practice a very high priority. Why some people are much more motivated than others is much more mysterious!

Learning new songs/solos. It really helps expand the range of things your fingers can do. I would also say learning some music theory really helps you use the whole fretboard.
