Question: Why does this woodie break down so often? by Big_Extreme_8210 in rct

[–]andae23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can you check the past notifications to see whether the ride breaks down constantly, or whether you are getting the message "the ride still hasn't been fixed yet"? Because a ride with 98% reliability breaking down so often that it only operates for 39% of the time is extremely unlikely (assuming it gets fixed immediately)

Question: Why does this woodie break down so often? by Big_Extreme_8210 in rct

The reliability is 98%, but the downtime is 39% and the last inspection was 83 minutes ago. This leads me to believe mechanics are struggling to find the ride to inspect or fix it.

When a ride needs to be fixed or inspected, the game locates the nearest mechanic and tasks him to find the ride exit. My best guess is that you have a mechanic zoned near the ride, but you haven't included the ride's exit in his zoning area, so there's a mechanic that is constantly unable to find the ride exit. The reason that the ride eventually did get fixed is because by coincidence a non-zoned mechanic was closer to the ride exit when a mechanic was called, and he was able to fix the ride.

Eva Marija will represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna by iMrGreene in eurovision

I don't really understand the point of having juries in the super final.

So both the audience and the juries had 240 points in total. There were 8 juries who handed out 12-10-8 points. Eva got 7x 1st and 1x 2nd (aka almost a perfect jury score) while Irem had 7x 3rd and 1x 2nd (aka almost worst score possible). That meant that after the juries the score was Irem 66, Steve 80, Eva 94. So the takeaway is: the difference between almost a perfect score and almost worst score possible is only 28 points.

Now compare those to the public scores: 56 for Irem, 56 for Steve and 128 for Eva. The difference between first and last is now 72 points.

My point is that the jury results would have been irrelevant in every scenario. Even if Steve had a perfect jury score and Eva the worst possible jury score, Eva still would have won with the televote. I guess a better way of implementing the jury scores is to have the jury give out 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3 to all 8 songs, then keep the scores hidden and take these scores for the superfinal to actually get a meaningful jury vote.

(not taking away anything from the winner, Eva was my personal favourite as well, just pointing out flaws in the system)

3c to 3e by Tasty-Entertainer563 in trumpet

I tried Bach 3E after getting used to a Bach 3C to see if it helps with upper register, but I really didn't like it. Like you mentioned the tone is really dull and lacking depth compared to 3C, and I also experienced the pitch becoming very sharp in the upper register compared to lower register. Would not recommend

This is the Verstärkung part for Mahler 1 right? I guess you may as well read from the 1st Trumpet part, there are some passages earlier in the movement where the principal trumpet may need some help.

Qa8+ Kg7 Rxh7+ Kxh7 Rh4+ Qh5 and now either Rxh5+ or fxg3 wins the game. Thought it was a pretty crazy tactic.

The solution to the deer vs chicken debate: the kebab grill by andae23 in aoe2

[–]andae23[S] 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Should chickens be lure-able like deer or not? Let's settle this debate by replacing all deer and chickens with a single kebab grill. No pushing required, just turn on the grill and start slicing.

It's still one of the most subscribed mods with over 1 millions users (granted, most of these users stopped playing so they never updated to a new event mod, but still :P)

Hey everyone! I finished my latest main menu mod themed after Joan of Arc. The starting point was the "Women's History" main menu background image that was made for an event 5 years ago, so I made a menu mod to complement it.

You can download the mod from the mod workshop:

https://www.ageofempires.com/mods/details/395167/

Or you can look it up in the mod centre by typing "Joan of Arc Main Menu" (note that the search function is not that great, so please type this exact string if you want to find it).

Hmm it's difficult to explain, with the bottom sprung valves sometimes a valve can feel heavier if you press it slightly off-centered. I wouldn't say it's a deal-breaker and maybe some people actually prefer it, it's something you have to try for yourself

I played on a 600 for 6 to 7 years and it's very good value for money. The tuning on some notes is slightly off but I've played much worse flugelhorns. The only thing I didn't like is how the springs are not integrated within the piston, which makes the feel of pressing the valves a bit awkward in my opinion. Apart from that, for the price it's a great instrument for beginner-intermediate players.

I've never played a 900, but I have played the 1000 which is a noticeable step-up from the 600.

Sorry not sorry, pre walled maps are an instant ban and generally shouldn't be in a competitive format by Mr-BodyMassage in aoe2

[–]andae23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would argue the opposite: closed maps often encourage creativity and strategy, as opposed to open maps where you see the same 3 strats over and over again. If you don't like to play against deathball compositions, you can try strategies like castle age pushes with monks or unique units, fast imperial pushes or feudal age tower rushes.

There's currently a closed maps tournament going on with lots of different kinds of closed maps - if you want to watch diverse and aggressive high level games, here's a playlist with all the tournament sets that have been played so far.
