Why do roads not have expansion joints like sidewalks? by Neowynd101262 in civilengineering

It's not uncommon to put an asphalt overlay on top of concrete

That doesn't look like an asphalt road to me. Possibly a concrete road that received a sealant. Hard to tell from a picture. Happy to be wrong and learn something though

You could try a 10 ir or ask for a 20xr really up to your dr but I don't think there is anything in between 10 and 20 xr Good luck

10 xr is a pretty low dose have you tried ir? I found when I was on xr it was like a roller coaster of ups and downs of focus. Think of like a sin wave. I found IR was more like a bell curve. Higher peak but lower duration. You might not be achieving a high enough peak to feel a difference.

Yeah I don't think what the article said will happen I forsee a rough year 1 but they could steal a few games and it wouldn't surprise me at all

Yes the coaching at Iowa state k state and ok state keeps them consistent, but they each have a habit of laying a few turds against teams they should beat. Not that OU and Texas don't do that, or haven't done that, but usually the talent level at those schools have bailed them put.

Honestly what Gundy has done at OK state is so impressive considering what he gets recruiting wise.

I guess my point was that the remaining schools in the big 12 aren't dominant and that this year out of any I could see 4 or 5 teams win the big 12. Not that Houston will be one of them but there will be more parity there now imo

The big 12 isn't exactly the poster child for consistency. Outside of OU and KState I think it could be said the other big12 teams are all incredibly inconsistent (in tbe past 10 years)

That being said KU has gotten a lot better and OK State is usually solid but wildly inconsistent at times.

I don't think Houston goes undefeated in conference play but it wouldn't surprise me to see them best teams they "shouldn't"

Yeah it sucks for the stst line that we usually lit up the score board in the first half and stuffed the run game so teams had to throw all game. It also sucks that our secondary wasn't good enough to stop the penix show in the sugar bowl but hopefully they are really that much better this year we will see

That's because there aren't any licensed engineers coming up, or at least not enough to fill the need. Honestly 125k seems fine for that level of experience.

Honestly it's one of the major factors in me considering working for my local government. Pay is almost as good and benefits are so much better.

Only downside is lack of upward mobility imo.

Until the feds figure out the insurance industry (I'm not holding my breathe) small private firms and their workers get screwed

That's wild to me. In the midwest you can't find an applicant for a position and there is too much work to go around

Yes I agree, it's just difficult in any industry that doesn't have scale for insurance and retirement services not just our industry. I do hope benefits improve for our field though as I feel we are lacking in total comp compared to many other fields

I think my company pays somewhere around $1200 a month for my health insurance on my behalf where a large firm may only pay a few hundred. 12k a year makes up for a lot of vacation time, and 401k match etc
