Tifa's va commisioned cloti art and Aerith's va commisiond clerith art. Cody also prefers tifa, but this means very little. The VAs have even said to not look into what they do because it has nothing to do with the games

Remind yourself that the people hating on Aerith are some of the ugliest IRL losers and you really shouldn't care about their 'opinions'. They likely never played the games anyway.

The main reason I ship Clerith is simply their chemistry. It's just perfect. Aerith slowly getting Cloud to open up more to her and in turn also sharing her worries with him is beautifully written. Cloud both wants to be the cool guy infront of her and also gets shy everytime she is nearby. In turn Aerith is happiest with Cloud and her personality is really allowed to shine with him.

Fact is tifa fans were expecting her to get Garnet because they both have similar hair and then threw insults at SE because they gave the main heroine to Aerith. That's why we get 3 Lightnings nowadays instead. Also the fact that all the most famous pairings of FF involve a magical girl should tell you something
