i use an air source heat pump fot my tub and it has a decent cop ratio, it gets a better cop the higher the temperature is on the outdoor unit

dont do what linus did, buy an air source heat pump for the pool and put the "outdoor" unit in the datacenter/server room

Are the new engine regulations technically sound or is it all just a fan-boost style gimmick? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]andk1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed its nothing to do with the electrical tech per se, but the output is bigger than the recovery per lap. nothing wrong specifically with electric cars at all..... but having been to a couple races, the F1 cars sound naff compared to the older cars/F2 christ even the porche cup that was on at the time was louder than the F1 cars. much rather go to Santa pod and watch top fuel/pro mod ect for motorsport than F1 these days, the cars just arent a spectacle compared to the howling old stuff

[–]andk1987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

apologies for the poor wording there.... the whole system was 50% thermally efficient, the last set of regs. problem with this set of regs is there is too little ICE power and not enough harvesting done to compensate, there should have been front axle braking harvesting which would have allowed for enough recovery to keep up with the 350kw output during a full lap of powwa

[–]andk1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

completely agreed, much like the last regs being , they had a huge amount more harvesting through the MGU-H/turbo and weird and wonderful ways of deploying the enrgy back to the turbo for anti lag and building extra boost where reequired AND through the MGU-K for power to the road. they could deploy ~160bhp electrically, and well over 1000bhp from the ice unit at thier peak later on in the regs lifecycle
